Overview
In the heart of Idaho lies a little known treasure trove called the Sawtooth Mountains. This pristine wilderness holds the states finest alpine climbing and its scenic beauty is nearly unmatched. The Elephant’s Perch (9,870’) is the area’s most well known and most often climbed peak as it is both a striking formation and it has a relatively simple approach. The Mountaineer’s Route is the easiest and most popular route up the peak’s west face, providing consistently fun and interesting climbing. Good route-finding skills are a must.
