I got a pitcher of margaritas for hauling a pig to the base... that's as far as I made it, then I went bouldering.

Nice! Zion routes will claim your ropes faster than you can say off belay. So far in my wall history there I've had 1 rope killed out of the 3 walls I've completed. The price we pay to play...

Gee...funny thing happened when I R/T'd out to meet Billy to go up there. I'll dig it out of the archives eventually...but, you know 'yer a Zionista if you know how to correctly pronounce the name of the town of "Hurricane."

Which is just past a local country club called: "Purgatory."

(hint: it's pronounced: "Hur-can.") "Lived there all my life and never saw a windy day!"

Awesome TR :) thanks!

And this...

reminds me a heck of a lot of this.
.

I also got shut down before at the move past the last bolt on the first real pitch, had to come back with tricams and ballnuts to get something to sink in. Poor route has been beat to hell haha.

Cool to see others getting after it. The lady's a real keeper, too.

Huh...Did you cut your rope cleaning that last pitch? We did! Didn't notice until the second rap. It was dark.

Cool route!

it's pronounced: "Hur-can."

it's more like "hurrikin". i went to high school in st. george.

spaceshot's a great route, my first wall solo. there was one of those bendable gumby dolls on earth orbit ledge when i did it. i accidentally trundled him when i was belly flopping onto the ledge. sorry gumby.

Nice TR!

I did the math in order to be able to lead that last pitch when we did it. Great to hear my partner step off, "w-w-w-w-hoa-yiiiiii". Hilarious.

Hurr-kin. La Verr-kin.

Hey, isn't there some property going to auction just south of there? Ha ha...

Jah...actually, they made it sound more like "Herk Enn."

I'd really ought to post up the R/T misadventure. When I retrieved my Jeep from the impound, Tow Truck Driver assured me that all of the car's contents had been inventoried, and were intact. And, by gosh and by God, they were...including my unopened bottle of Orleans "Jade" absinthe we were to entertain ourselves at the bivi + some other contraband. Of course, the rig was packed full to the rafters with gear - clearly, there was no way for anyone to sort things out.

Fortunately.

Back in 95, (I think!) I had one day in Zion....Managed to do this before a rushed retorn to SF and a flight to the UK.

Fabulous climb and place, burned into my memory.
