So after a long hiatus I finally was in a position to take a long weekend and go SandStonin' in the desert.
It was a phun phun trip with a great group of folks. I hope you enjoy this mostly pictorial journey.

I've only been to the Creek once. Still wild and untamed.
Great idea on the headband backpack thingey! Brings me back to my newspaper delivering daze when I'd slog the newspaper bag about in such a manner.

Day 3
On the wau back we stopped at Eric Bjornsatd's and picked up 50 or 60 of his journals for the AAC library in Golden. What a historical legend of desert exploration, adventure and FAs.
Hasta La Vista Buckaroos, keep on wranglin'.

Yes Dick that is the man. I was greatly honored to finally meet, hang and climb with him.
And that's Eric Bjornstad in the last pics. We picked up a trove of history from him for the AAC library.

Survival, I am on my way back, healing and strengthening but taking my patient time. After 31 years I maybe looking for a gullible, er I mean a strong and reliable partner for a hopeful return to the 'Res' this year.

Person identified in photos as "Derek" is actually Darren Reay from Grand Junction, Colorado, with his ever-present, black wonder dog Karma Ann. Darren is a solid climber with an amazing set of outdoor skills. Just one example: he's expert at making arrowheads that easily pass the "real thing." Spent six wonderful weeks in the Wind Rivers with Darren last summer.
