It had been 18 years since our initial attempt on the West Ridge of Conness with a party of six (yup you read that correctly). This time things worked out better:

The Photo Spheres are below (360° panoramas):

Starting up the initial corner.

Some other fellow forgot his partner and rope, so we let him pass.

Getting started up the ridge.

High up the route.

Big thanks to Frank for being patient while I monkeyed around with photo equipment.

Somehow we forgot that in the Sierras you often encounter snow. Frank showing off proper footwear (duct tape does a mediocre job keeping tennis shoes dry):

Very cool to see the 360-degree views. Thanks much.

Incidentally, I know about climbing a long, easy route in a party of six. We did the Royal Arches that way in 1981 (when the Rotten Log was still in place), and it took about twelve hours, car-to-car!

I confess, my first reaction was not very positive. I mean it's like arm chair climbing or something.

And yet... it's so awesome to "be there" when I can't be right now.

Thanks!
