Trip Report
Kor/Ingalls Castleton Tower 5.9
Wednesday September 25, 2013 2:59am
The plan was to drive out to Castle Valley and camp out to get an early start. I didn't get my sh#t together and the thought of sleeping in my bed sounded more appealing.

I suggested to Marie that we stay in town and just drive out in the morning. She was cool with that and went out to get some evening pitches in with some friends.

I ended up at the bar and made an unwise choice to sign off with a couple of shots after a few beers. Bad idea.

7 am and Marie is knocking on my door. We pack up and head out.

On the approach the hangover started kicking in. I tried to keep on a happy face.

When we got to the base I was rather pukey. Marie suggested I take a moment so I went and layed down.

An hour later we start. Marie wants to lead the whole thing. Sweet.

Marie likes to climb but not so good on getting new shoes.

The first pitch did not help my hangover. Marie set off on the second pitch and cruised it.

The second pitch really didn't help my hangover.

"Seriously dude. Suck it up." Says Marie.

We finally made it to the summit!

Oh god, I didn’t have a hang over when I climbed this route, and I wanted to puke! Didn’t enjoy this climb at all when I did it BITD…Maybe it would be more fun if I had such a good looking partner! Muy bueno!

Funny..... I as well felt like puking the whole way up and it had nothing to do with booze. In fact, the only little bit of climbing not particularly upsetting to the stomach was the last twenty feet, which may account for your lack of heaving on the summit. If ever there is cure for a hangover, I'd say the Kor Ingals is about the least likely place to find it!

The last twenty feet are the most fun.

I was expecting to see the dog on the summit, but thanks for reminding me of a fun route. I remember the green and orange colors of castle valley are practically blinding.

Very excellent The Larry, you described your state of being very well, and I felt the pain, while reading this TR, of trying to climb with a terrible hangover ~ cheers to you for persevering... !!! And Marie for letting a pre-climb nap occur, that tipped the scales in your direction for triumph, and one top-of-pitch non-puker, me thinks...

Way to suck it up; or get it out, as the case may be. The funniest thing I every read in a summit register was on Castleton: "The blood in the chimney is HIV positive". I imagine the register is gone, the blood is gone; but at least my bad sense of humor remains.

OH...MY...GOD...

I am laughing so hard right now, I can barely type. But here goes:

1. Funniest TR I've seen to date.
2. Marie RULES! Beautiful, brave, smart and leads trad--how did you ever score that one???
3. You, my friend, deserve an award for posting up such an awesome TR that makes Marie look Herculean and you, Bacchanal.
4. Awesome photos (especially the one of you calling up chuck) and you have a lovely dog (which also gets you points for carrying him up the approach).

Fantastic TR. Please keep drinking too much the night before and posting up the aftermath. ;-)

Thanks.
