Thanks a lot you guys.

We really had a lot of fun exploring, and I specifically tried to not get focused on the biggest rocks, and climbers. It was more about trying to find some quiet spaces for me and my people. Plenty of them around there.

I'll fire up some more photos tomorrow, I've got quite a few good ones left!

Thanks Jim! My head is so filled with composition ideas sometimes my family has to wander off and leave me walking around the same formation three times, ha!

With only two days I didn't want to be stuck looking at the same two rocks the whole time, so I opted for playing tourist and moving around more.

One of these days I'll get a real camera, and then after a couple year learning curve I'll be bad ass!!

I wonder if anyone listened to the Zappa while they were looking? Was it too much to ask? HAHAHAA!!

Stravinski did a beautiful rant about the music industry ramming the same stuff down our throats until our minds were numb and didn't want to hear music we hadn't heard before.

Of course we all know what we like, but I make a conscious effort to listen to something I've never heard, almost everyday. This morning I had on a Pandora station that had my own well schooled family looking at me funny!!

I realize that these pictures aren't standard climbing pix from Joshua Tree, but I really was looking through n00bs eyes, but honed stone gazers eyes.

L is the only one of our Joshua Tree pros has chimed in though? I wonder if I misrepresented the park in their eyes somehow.

Nice trip report, Bruce!

Listening to Frank and looking at your awesome photos took me right back to some time I spent up in the Bong Cave at JT with Jimmy Olson back in '79.

Beautiful photos - TFPU - one of my favorite places - how do you post large photos? I assume they are high res taken with DSLR - but what is posting process?

Ed H, thanks for looking!

My camera is no big deal, it's just a small Olympus, but a nice solid little metal job, I really like it.

Here's what I do. I use a free version of Irfanview so I can juice up the photos. That's where I play with colors, black and white, contrast, gamma and such.

Then I load them into photobucket, where there are "share image" links, and that's how I bring large photos over, rather than using the Supertopo add photo function. It's kind of a cut n paste thing.

I hope that helps!

The real question is did you listen to any Zappa?

Ok - got it - thanks for the photo bucket cut and paste beta - I'll try it

Yes - I listened to the Zappa soundtrack while viewing the TR - nice touch!
