Friday June 5, 2015 7:06pm
So this showed up in my front yard the other day. A nice, warm, sunny Fresno day.

And over a thick, black, fresh roasted hand dripped pour over of Hood River Coffee Co.'s finest he tell me that he's never seen Kings Canyon.

So my wife tells me "skip church and take Mark to see the big trees and Roads End." I love my wife.
Within an hour Limpingcrab sends me beta on a five pitch rarely climbed route in Cedar Grove that goes at 5.7, 5.8, 5.9, 5.10, .10b

So off we go in my shiny new truck, pullin 11.6mpg. Will that be enough to get us to roads end and back? I dont care. I love my new truck.

Yeah. I make my kids polish my new rims. On week days only though.

The drive is fantastic, tales of Mark's recent exploits in The Black, Zion and The Valley make the miles fly by and in an hour we pull over to marvel at some of the biggest living things on the planet.

"Get back in the truck Hudon, we can't stroll around looking at the pretty trees all day."
We continue east, clouds boiling on the horizon, and are soon staring down into the great Canyon of the Kings.

Descending the narrow, winding road into the guts of the canyon is so very different than other parks in the Sierra Nevada. Yucca plants growing at Dr. Suessian angles speckle the striated ancient walls.

That route is great! "Ocean King," if I recall correctly. I did an early accent and had a blast.

Nice fun Micronut!

May I recommend a real jewel of a route, "Nowhere to run" 5.11a, 6 pitches, first climbed by E.C. Joe, Barry Fowlie, Bill McConachie, 5-86. It's on the south buttress of North Mountain right behind the staff housing and stables, along the Motor Nature Trail, if all of that those facilities are still there. I'd give this route 5 stars. The pitches run 5.9, 5.9, 5.9, 5.9, 5.11, 5.10a. This climb has a little of everything, and verticality, absolutely beautiful!

Excellent!

And sandbag alert! I've never heard of that route two-shoes is mentioning, but 5.9 pitches and E.C. Joe are a recipe for commitment and seriousness. Maybe he adds pro on 10s and 11s, but I wouldn't want to be on the sharp end to find out!

It was just plain rude of me not to comment till now
That said I am always amazed that I am in the shadow
Of so many who know how to smile and make lemonade
Thanx for taking us with you after the fact , and glad that you were able to smile
Stoked to see it are you going to come back? And add more?
Just the fun of typing while a busy signal beeps as I type. . . .

Seems about right
From the degenerate short on tall but long on psych!
We here are about to order from Hood River Roasters ,
Now I now what 'flavor to choose.
