Seems like the sure-fire way to fall on this route is to try to protect the first 10 feet or so. Just boulder up to the jug hidden in the crack and you'll have a huge hold with great feet. Stuff in an alien and you are good to go.

The "walk around" to set a toprope is farther than you might think. I totally on-sighted it, but it's a ways down and back. Now you know.
