With everything you've seen and done in the valley (elsewhere ?) it would be a best seller for sure . Think about it .

Best idea I have heard in long while.

And then you could move to Co. and buy a ranch next to George.

Seriously think about it.

And we would be the ones who would benefit most.

From the book, not your moving.

hey there say.... a bump for ol' werner and his
new book title:
My life is as boring as everyone else.[/

and its sub-title:
A book would be nothing new.[/

WOW werner, it's a GEM... i just know it!

well--it would be, if you really wrote one... :)
and we'd be taking-it-heart, and honor the life lived that "would birth it" as i am sure there are some very heavy things there, to be said, as well...

dear werner:
you are a vast treasure box of so many riches, dear ol' werner...
so keep being your're ol' humble self...

we'll just read the "man behind the book" instead... ;)

:)

Too funny Neebee. Maybe Mr. McNamara will have to edit a compilation of Mr. Werner's stories from the Taco. Still, it would be quite a thing to have a book from the man himself.

Simply a book on rescue techniques would be invaluable. Interject climbing, religious, life in the ditch anecdotes, and I would bet it would be timeless.

in fact neebee is right Mr. Braun.

the interesting this is what happens in our brains
when we imagine ourselves in front of the keyboard
writing a "book" - what "voice" will we use?

how will it go in terms of overall structure and scope?

much valuable, informative and entertaining life
experience has been lost this way, I suspect.

it is daunting, because the writer is looking up
at "el cap" without a clue, so to speak.
this is way common.

for instance, my "books" would be titled:

1) Dummies guide to being a nit wit.
2) shooting yourself in the foot in ten easy lessons
3) being blind with 20/20 vision
4) retards guide to failure and abject self loathing
5) how to get your umpteenth hot girlfriend to drop you like a stone
and
6) sniffing glue the easy ray way

see...valuable stuff ;-)

edit: what Peter Haan said downthread
plus disregard the common notion that
writing about your life experiences is
in any way "vain" - simply not true.

hope you consider this Werner, your are a very special
person with a lot of insights and a treasure of unique
experience to draw upon.

I hope Werner keeps looking at this thread and more importantly, at this idea of ß Î Ø T Ç H. It of course seems both impossible and pointless to him but that is what most anybody feels when contemplating writing memoirs and career stories.

What I would suggest is that Werner get a co-author who can help him shape the huge pile of his 38 years of climbing and YOSAR work into an actual work of literature. This is the approach usually taken by people who have had remarkable lives but aren't actually writers themselves.Take this tactic and an actual complete book gets done!!

And we could wager bets as to who will finish their respective book first.

Werner or Licky?

And then, everyone could have a 'stab' at getting rich!

(We know it wouldn't be about the money in it for you, if you did it Werner).

It wouldn't be just about you, but about an 'Era in time like no other'.

Come on Werner!

We are just saying that we would love to see it from your perspective. And your humble, and highly valued opinion.

good laugh tripl7, werner vs. licky. like the geraldo build up to breaking into al capones lair. plenty of time for commercial breaks, edgy music and redundant summaries. licky scratching his chin over a fortune cookie, werner in his bunk, showing no strain whatsoever

OK, big, big secret about Werner...

He's actually sat back his entire life and watched the exploits of his (sort of evil) twin, "Warner"...

Looks exactly like him, too -- BUT, you'll notice you never see the two of them in the same place at the same time. Clever.

Merry will never tell.

It is a noble thing to live with a constant sense of one's place in the world, to not place one's self on a pedestal above others. This is reality and embracing it is right.

But transcending this humility is another lesson, learning to share more of one's self in order to communicate something deeper about all of us for the benefit of all of us. Everyone is grasping at this thread because they want to see into humanity through your penetrating eyes. It is a means to establishing a stronger connection between us all. Or I should say, a way of revealing that all-powerful connection that is always there but which we somehow lose the ability to recognize.

And of course we want to hear about cool helicopter stuff and stupid camp 4 pranks.

I'd righ tthe boook if I were you... Just write your thoughts, eventually you will have enough pages of your thoughts to combine into a book, that I'd at least review before buying a few copies...

From Wes:
But seriously... you seem witty and well spoken and have seen a lot of sh#t. I'll proof read it for you... make sure you get the "then" and "than" all worked out.

Wes, you may want to start proofreading your own posts before offering your proofreading services to others. Proofread is one word.

Then again, I'd love to read a book by Yoda, if he could only speak in full sentences.
