My wife and i are going to vancouver for a weekend, she is interviewing for a job, and we are wondering about things to do places to see. Help a fellow taco-ite out!

if he's not out playing somewhere.

Have fun!

I assume you mean Vancouver, Canada and not the illustrious Vancouver, WA.

Tami, I was always told the best sights in Vancouver were in Victoria.
I remember one night getting lost in Vancouver on the way to Whistler and we pulled over to ask for directions on a stormy night, and the lady we talked to was a hooker. in the middle of a snowstorm she was dressed in a overcoat and lingerie and kept flashing us as she gave directions. Pretty cool. It was a interesting part of town we were in and had allot of character. That was many years ago. The Canadians are a very friendly people, no really seriously ey!

I second the Museum of Anthropology - it's pretty cool (or at least I thought so).

Granville Island is okay - lots of neat shops and a cool market. Kind of similar to Pike Place Market in Seattle. I suspect you wouldn't find too many things at Granville Island that you wouldn't find at Pike Place. I don't find downtown Vancouver very interesting to walk around (Chinatown is pretty scuzzy in places), but the neighborhood around MEC is not too bad for a stroll.

Victoria is a nice little city, the ferry ride over/back is great - if it's a nice day and you've got nothing else to do that might be a fun way to spend it.

Yep. What Tami said. Lived in Victoria most of my younger days.

Couldn't wait to get out. (Course now it looks pretty good for retirement;)

Vancouver's the bomb and Tami's list is truly a winner. And since it's hockey season...See if the Canuck's are in town and catch a game if you're downtown. If you're staying in a hotel, see if they have hockey packages. Sometimes you can get a room and tickets for not much more than just a room.

If the weather is decent, go to Squamish. It was quite wet over the weekend, but you never know. Sometimes autumn (climbers should never use the four letter F word - fall) is quite nice. Even if it's been dry for a day or two, you can do a bit of bouldering, or hike up the back of the Chief. Or as Tami says go to Lighthouse Park, and take pictures of it before Chaz gets there.

Another cheap bit of fun is to buy a pass, and ride around on the rapid transit. You can see an awful lot of the city in a few hours, stopping when the fancy takes you.

I sent you (DK) a note via the SuperTopo system, on October 5th. Did it arrive safely?

Anyway, what with you, and Wayne M, and maybe Wayne W, visiting in the near future, perhaps we should just all descend on Tami et al at the weed farm. Uninvited and unexpected, of course - she really likes that.

I don't know, showing up at a weed farm unexpected could be dangerous. Down here you might be looking down the barrel of a loaded gun. Tami, You're not secretly packing heat are you? I guess it wouldn't be a secret if you told.
