I can confirm the bolt ladder on Jesus existed when I started there in 1984.

Also a hangerless ladder of 1/4 inch rusted bolts in the center of the wall left of "S" Crack going through the big pockets there. Never got around to climbing it even though I bought hangers for it. Started up on a hot day but backed off due to technical details. Never went back to it.

Guyman,

Not worth my salt, don't recall no bolt ladder back in the 60s - woulda clipped it if it existed. Did it?

Don.... I started in February 1973 at Stoney. I climbed the bolt ladder with my friends soon after, at night, while pretty liquored up.

Upon reaching the summit, I discovered a young couple engaging in some pretty frantic love making, they didn't notice me for about 60 seconds.... then I said. "excuse me, can I clip the anchors?"

I remember my friends - Hank Lavene (sp?) and Fred Lytle (sp) nailed the Bosch Death Route in preparation for their successful 2nd ascent of Moses... heck they were still in high school. Anyway they used the bolts/belay station when they did that one.

So you bring up a serious topic..... maybe the record can be set straight.

When was the FA of the Stoney Point Bolt Ladder and by who??

I'll have to ask Hennek about the existence of the bolt ladder.

He may remember when we started to put in a bolt traverse off the top of the S crack (not what we called it back then - just the easiest route). Each bolt had a Dolt aluminum hanger into which we had stamped a sequential short story - hanger by hanger. For what reason after about three bolts, we quit. Wonder if they're still there.

Sorry, wrong Hank.

Don .... good to know about Hank, more and more of the old climbers are moving to Bishop, I'll look him up.

So was that bolt traverse going from left to right?

Will need to go look for those Dolt Hangers with a story.... priceless.

I believe it rained sunday night in Sherman oaks. Does anyone know if it rained in chatsworth too? I'm wanting to head out there later this week but only if it's dry. Thanks in advanced!

Found a chalkbag and a brush at Stoney point. It was sitting on the bench at Boulder 1 last night (1/4) after 9pm.  Hit me up if it's yours. mjwomack7 at gmail dot com

Nobody boulders there any more. Parking is no longer a problem on Tuesday or Thursday. Martian Landing is getting crowded though. There were 6 people there one day last week!

Hey ... was just checking out the thread the other day ... and it seemed unusually quiet.
So ... I thought I’d post some pics of my daughter at Smith Rock on a tower called Monkey Face ...

Sort of like other southwest cities of the past. The people have all gone & no one knows why. G_Gnome says the Martian's landed and took 6. But they said that about the Mayan also.
Smith always looks good.
