Tuesday was fun times. Reviving some old lines. Nice temps with sticky rock.
Had a great No Hands session on Slant Rock after being inspired by the Johnny Dawes video.

Nice picture Sam. Don't think the spotter would do much good at that point though :) If anyone's not familiar with Stoney...that route on the overhanging is the Johnson Arete, put up by Jeff Johnson, one of the all time masters of Stoney Point. Hope he's doing well these days. The route with all the chalk is Powerglide.

If you want an old time problem.... try "Talking Heads" 5.8 .....

on the other rock behind Sam... you can see a big hueco with graffiti below it. Start with hands in hueco, go to your right and climb up the arete to the top. Dean F. Shawn C and Guy K. 1977 ..... BADASS

Now Now big boy, don't be getting all pissed off......

Its hard to find an Independently wealthy, Early Retired, am dog walker who climbs the rocks....

You have some big shoes to fill.

LJ and I did cut all the weeds growing around the base B1... and we got the big downed oak branch moved out of the way.

Eric and Dry Bong did pick up a ton of trash that the rock ARTISTS and Paint Ballers forgot to take with them.....

And Mike Mathason and Banny Root went and threatened some young men who had the spray paint equipment visible when they came down the hill.

We try.....

I climbed there from 1981 until 2008 when I moved to Ventura.

I know the game. I don't what bothered me so much about the statement.

//" But I have something more pressing....
//
On my way to work , //, on wet streets, there were about 9 cars pulled up to the side of Stony. I saw packs on peoples backs, no pads, I didn't have time to stop and check out what was going on.

I suspect a "meet up" group or maybe one of the GUIDE services who use the place, although I didn't see the marked SUV/VAN/Vehicle they usually use.

I am not familiar with the "meet up" listings. If any of you folks are, please let me know the links, and I will let em know when the point is closed. "
//
The Point isn't CLOSED! Maybe it's the self appointed ruler of the land mind thought that bothers me so much. Who do you think you are Kim Jong-un.

Stoney point is a Los Angeles City Park, there for all to enjoy. When one group of users thinks they own the place and take matters in their own hand is when it could cause a problem with the city. Maybe a less confrontational way to get your point across would be better. Maybe post a sign at each entrance explaining why it isn't a good idea to use the rock while it is wet. I would not be surprised if the city park department would help with this.

I would encourage everybody to visit Stoney Point on a rainy day. It is pretty cool place when it's raining. Just don't climb or rap on wet rock.

During one rainy day a friend of mine and I aid climbed inside of the train tunnel. I also built walls under the 118 at Tampa. Yes that was me.

what are the walls that you built under 118? homeless shelter?

Here are group of Stoney Pointers who would love to see you onewho!

D. S Potter

Guys from stoney sad day for climbers. Dean Potter has passed on.
Had the privileged to meet him and smoke some bowls with him!
years later ran into him at the Ahwanee which he autographed the "red Rope guide book".. he was so stoked to thumb thru my book..
one of the reasons I like to free solo the front wall stuff at stoney was because I wanted to be like Dean.
Big inspiration for me!
