That's Dick James. I took the pic from a hanging belay. Here's a more recent pic.....that palm out by the parking strip at Stoney. Kind of amazing - it appears to be growing wild.

I don't know but I don't think it has a name. The bolts are for Nabisco Canyon.

a little off topic but close to home.....how many of you know about the nuclear meltdown that happened in the Santa Susana Hills at Rocketdyne in 1959;

All that radiation blew into Simi, which explains a lot, actually. Didn't Pyro used to live there?!

I spent some time in the old country on Saturday, and really enjoyed it. though we only hit a couple formations (not sure which), and didn't climb anything to hard, the rock seemed very good and we will be back...

This is Julie, as the newest Mrs. Frumkin I feel the need to respectfully point out that there is no P in our name. Thank you Jeff.

January?

Photo cred to Spencer Josif.

Hucked a pretty big dyno from the Piledriver jug on Pile Ups, to the lip of the boulder today.
Rumor has it never been done?

Guyzo,

Spencer is the shorter of the Josif bros. Also currently stronger. But don't tell AJ that.

It's misty down here at the beach. Will Stoney be dry for the afternoon sesh?

More info on old country can be found on rockclimbing.com

Climbed a bunch back there around 2004-2006, was new to the area and didn't know the history so we thought we were doing a bunch of "new" routes...maybe they have been done before be we couldn't find any info so we named them ourselves. In retrospect the grades you see on rockclimbing.com may be a bit overrated compared to the rest of stoney.

I'll bet alot of bushes have grown in around he boulders. Sure was fun back there, no people, no litter, not much graffiti. Hope some more people find their way over and enjoy the solitude and fun boundering. I'm game to go again sometime if anyone ever want to check it out.
