Pyro, the current published stoney guide has its fair share of mistakes
this is the owen guide right?
it does have a few mistakes but at least he's been in contact via email and has met up with locals to adjust then perfect the stoney guide. chris owen gives credit to the F.A because he adjusted the ken boche death route which is coming out in the next edition.

the hellwig guide was pretty good also!

P.S i would wright a guide but I feel the right people's need to write the guide of all guide books about Stoney's culture and historical value.

i nominate WAUGH!

Write, no wright... Wright is a name.

Pyro, You are a good man but... Just like spelling, writing a guide isn't as easy as it sounds. Don't criticize others for something YOU haven't accomplished yourself. Lots of people can judge, make noise, but few can actually pull it off, show others how to do it. If you can't do it yourself, don't criticize others for trying. By doing that, no one is going to ever accomplish anything worth keeping since the world is against them.

Now as a climber, you can rock it. Please stick to that. Shove it in their face that they can't follow you, that you can go higher, faster, smoother than most. Just please leave the anger behind. It isn't worth it.

Writing a guidebook is so much work. It's really hard not to make a mistake. Especially about sandstone that is ever changing.

Dr F,

Has called me in for his heavy work.

Craig's guide was written long ago when there wasn't a lot of info, and covered a wide area in a general way. It was never a definitive bible.

He listed some of my FA's as his and other's, but Big-F-Deal.

You are both nice guys, and pleasant in person, Werner always told me, "Guide books, who needs a f*#king Guide book, you have to have the eye man."

Now, stop fighting, shake hands and be friends....

It's freaking Stoney Point, urban choss at it's finest. Not worth getting angry about.

I'm a Mini Holland guy anyway. Going there tomorrow for some pathetic floundering on 10a problems.

Thanks Coz
I knew you would help out a bro

Pyro, my advice, write your own guide.

My guide was the best for Stoney at it's time, that time is long gone, and I can't revise the current guide. period.

It's not perfect, that's for sure, but I did consult with as many local climbers I could. I solicited input at every point, but as we know, climbers have little to say and rarely do they put out the effort to help out a guide book author.
I climbed at every area in the guide many times, I drew almost every map myself, and had input for info on every boulder, fact. The work to produce such a guide was tremendous, overwhelming in fact, So at this point I really don't care, its a done deal, and I'm happy with the results.

But some would rather complain and bitch about how you weren't a big enough local to do a guide book for the area, weak.
