Climate is average weather of a region over a long period of time.

Climate change scare-d-cats should know that they and their
great grandchildren will have lived out their trifling lives before
that long period of time has run its course and before any conclusions can be made about providing plants with more CO2 to eat.

Climate change deniers should know that the "long period of time" used to define climate is typically around 30 years. I plan on being alive in 30 years. My nieces and nephews and their kids will be around in 30 years. And whether you will be around or not, you will still be a fuking idiot.

I clarified it for you dipsh#t, since you clearly have no concept of context.

They prove themselves fools when they point at 'weather' and shout
'climate catastrophe' and as thieves when they demand we pay them climate protection money.

"You don't want this climate brick accidentally flying through your window do you sir?"

Good thing no respectable climate scientist has done either of those things.

You prove yourself an idiot every time you hit return.

You only have gas tank DMT? I had 2 on mine, but it wasn't diesel... at 10 mpg I NEEDED 2. If it weren't for gas prices, I'd still be driving from Squamish to the Red River Gorge to Hueco to... Good times!

Anti-racketeering laws are perfect to stop climate profiteers.
Criminal sanctions and forfeiture provisions should be enough to halt the climate change syndicates.

Without their huge fleet of private jets how will they travel in comfort to the next Climate Change Conference to plan their conspiracies?

Just cus you got the title of "Scientist" and have a Cert stating your a Ph.D, does not exclude you from being ignorant. Nor does not having one define you as ignorant.

True, but you and your friends really do a great job showing that you really are ignorant. That you also do not have any relevant formal education do not really matter.

The North Pole probably looks a bit different than you would expect right now. Because, at this very moment, it's actually a lake.

For the first time in recorded history the exact Arctic North Pole has melted into a lake.

I posted this earlier on the Birds thread -- from the NPEO webcam 2 on July 22. Guesses so far include Northern Gannet, Snow Goose, Kittiwake or Fulmar.

Chief,

what possible difference does it make whether or it the earth was warmer in the past or not?

The fact is that we live in the now, the present, and there is no disputing the truth that the TREND is warmer.

Doesn't matter if it is warmer now that 10K years ago or not. That is not relevant.

Hey, the earth was a giant ball of super heat 4 billion years ago, who gives a damn?

This is not a discussion, maybe it should be, of whether or not us present day humans should be doing anything about this definite RECENT warming trend we are in now.

But it IS happening, and it already IS having bad consequences, like the very sharp rise in world grain prices that the extreme heat and drought causes, just to mention ONE consequence.

We can argue whether or not we can or even should be doing anything to mitigate these effects.

I know where you personally stand on that, and I happen to agree with your core position.

But this thread is about Climate Change "skeptics", and their obvious denial of the very fact that our earth IS in a RECENT historically warming period, a fact that they have trouble dealing with.

People like Rick, who just keeps on calling everything a lie when he cannot refute it.

Here's a free lesson: if you can replace the word with "you are" you should be using the contraction "you're" otherwise, use the possessive pronoun "your." Your welcome.

Failing at 2nd grade spelling and basic reasoning does in fact define you as ignorant.

That sums it up nicely monolith.

Ah, the mentality of idiots who deny the science they simply don't want to accept, yet repeat ad nausea the few simple irrelevant facts they THINK support their stance.

Projection of self-loathing, or actual ASPD? I'm thinking the former. In any case, bone ignurnt.

Saw this study popping up all over the media today:

"Antarctic permafrost, which had been weathering global warming far better than areas around the North Pole, is starting to give way. Scientists have recorded some of it melting at rates that are nearly comparable to those in the Arctic.

Scientists used time-lapse photography and LiDAR to track the retreat of an Antarctic ice cliff over a little more than a decade. They reported Wednesday in the journal Scientific Reports that the cliff was “backwasting rapidly.” The permafrost that made up the cliff was found to be disappearing nearly 10 times more quickly than was the case during recent geological history. And the rate of melting is picking up pace. From the Los Angeles Times:

Cliff-face measurements of the buried ice in the four-mile-long Garwood Valley revealed melt rates that shifted from a creeping annual rate of about 40,000 cubic feet per year over six milleniums, to more than 402,000 cubic feet last year alone. … (That’s a leap from the capacity of about eight standard railroad boxcars to 77.)

The scientists also monitored the weather at the cliff and found that rising air temperatures were not to blame for the melt. Rather, they think it was caused by growing amounts of dark debris on the surface of the ice and snow that absorbed the sun’s rays."

Norton - you seem to be able to state things concisely .... maybe you could describe Chuffs core position on this matter. I have my own ideas of what that may be and it isn't pretty. Maybe its better than I think?

Bruce,

The Chief's main contention is that any resources be they human or financial involvement would be better utilized to mitigate human suffering than to be "spent" on taking on such a long term dubiously successful project like Climate Change, so why bother?

He has said this, and to some large degree I agree

Is that a current picture of the north pole Norton or Chiloe? Let's give you guys a chance to come clean.

Ed, you are not only a potentially great sci-fi writer but also have a great sense of humor. The only problem is their has been a good deal of research that seems to validate the Charlson 1987 paper, but im sure an equal or greater amount of work refuting it.

Just taking a little break Bruce. Your questions deserve an honest and reasoned answer that i'll get to after work.

Jesus Christ you fuking idiot, can't you see the date plastered across the top of the picture? Like trying to have a discussion with a fuking mud puddle.

One of the key features that distinguishes humans from other animals is our ability to anticipate future events based on evidence from the past. You think human suffering is bad now? After a period of the highest food production rates and most advanced medical technology humans have EVER known?
