Quite funny reading every single day the outright lies that Republican politicians tell about climate change, Ron

no false equivalence either

want to start with Michelle Bachman's lies?

You got it wrong, ron

it is the Republicans who are famous for being staggeringly ignorant about "science", from flat denying climate change is even happening, to women being able to prevent a birth because their body knows the difference between rape and consensual sex

the list just goes on and on, so it is really really weak of you to make a big deal out of one Democrat who "may' in fact be right, in that the increase in the number of tornadoes overall may be due to climate change, he certainly did not "lie" as the party you vote for do

mountainlion sounds like the man I'd like to be if I was so pissed off at the world.

Chief, just curious... do you drive a big black truck that appears to be over compensating for something?

The Chief and Knotts are the same.

I want to hear him deny it, then I'll post the evidence, even though it's obvious from the banning and The Chief's appearance the next day. Imagine that!

any long-term consequences of increased reproductive effort on individuals or populations remains to be determined.

Not that surprising. Many lower life forms produce more offspring when under stress... much higher mortality rate though

LOL, Chief, I said the bears would evolve, but if they are evolving to land based bears because man f*#ked up their ocean environment where they spend most of their time, then we are responsible, and we can take steps to try to reverse the damage we are doing.

Still no denial on Knotts?

We are part of the system, and we can control what we do, idiot.

Maybe we should set off all our nukes, just because we are part of the system. Man will evolve right?

Hum, if we do dumb stuff to f*#k up the environment, we are smart enough to stop doing dumb stuff that f*#ks up the environment. If the environment responds to our dumb stuff, then there's a good chance it may respond in our favor when we stop.

Good night Knotts.

OVER the past 15 years air temperatures at the Earth’s surface have been flat

Those 'flat' years are the hottest on record and that's even with the melting of Greenland and many other glaciers accelerating and cooling the ocean. So, things are staying hotter than they had been in the past while record numbers of gigatons of icemelt are pooring into the oceans. My brain says that things are heating up and feedbacks are providing data thats easy to misinterpret.

One the ocean/airconditioners are gone we won't have the luxury of something to stabilzer the temps like Greenland and Antarctica are doing.
Think about it - air temps are stable and not falling while Greenland melts into the ocean. It doesn't take much of a model to see what's happening.

Le Chef---speaking of wannabee's weren't you a cook or something in the Navy?? Was that your desired postition or did you strive for it?

I can respect a man who wears an apron but for some reason it gets harder to respect a man who bakes cookies and rides a crotch rocket---just saying if you are happy with what you were born with you wouldn't feel a need to compensate...Also I had a CAR in High School with more top end speed than that pussy bike you got...you want to see a real performance bike rent "the worlds fastest indian" it's a story about a man with BALLS...

By the way in the pic of your F150 you appear to be parking and driving over desert vegitation and not in the parking spot---just like you right wing types to not give a shyt about anybody or anything than yourself.

No Rong I don't look at the profiles---I'm to busy trying to do research for the thread topic for YOU since you won't do the research or post links...

As for Le Chef I don't give a rat's ass about his internet persona and I was considered a son for a man who retired Commander from the NAVY and fought for our country at D-Day aboard the U.S.S. McCook---Commander John Folsom could speak 7 languages (to varying degrees) was tougher than Le Chef could ever be---i met him at age 82 as a disabled man and I was fired for standing up to credit card fraud that happened to him at the gym I worked at---I won in court after 2 years against those sons a bitches--I gave the Eulogy at his funeral and cleaned out his apartment after I put my business on hiatus to care for him til he died and am proud that he called me eho wich is Son in spanish

All of that can be proven if you are willing to do some investigative work...Long story short Le Chef can take as good as he gives or he shouldn't be tickling the tummy of some Bleeding Hearts some of us bite back.

There are some interesting thoughts in there Rick about the melting of the ice cooling the oceans as I suggested. Your article is old though;
Just last week, I wrote about the arctic sea ice returning to 1979 levels just 1 1/2 years after the fear of the biggest summer ice retreat in 2007.

2012 has taken the record away from 2007 for the least Arctic Ice Extent. It really has not gone back to 1979 levels. This year is already the 5th or 6th lowest on record.

So, could these reports indicate that melting cools the oceans and has a negative feedback on warming? Is this just a speed bump in the general trend of warming?
Ding Dong! Yes! Until the ice is gone! The CO2 isn't going anywhere and is just increasing. Ironically, the slowing down of the oceans warming allows it to absorb more CO2, but once that cooling phase is over, after much ice-melt and the ocean starts to warm again, it will give up CO2 that it holds and is storing away for us.

There was a good This American Life podcast this last weekend on why the climate change conversation in this nation in "stuck". Worth a listen... on their website or Stitcher app for free :-)
