64.5% of the Nation had an AT or BELOW AVG temp summer.

So The Chief, where do you think 2014 will rank in terms of the hottest years on record, in the top ten or below?

Lucky me... I just came across a more detailed examination of this divergence.

The sound of Sketch being coy again.

Still hoping for some answers.

Not really. But here's what I told you then, still applies.

If that was a real question, how could you learn about the answer?

Really, there's been much written on these topics. But you'd have to look at actual science, by scientists, outside of your political blogs. And use your own brain to grasp new ideas.

Still hoping for some answers. Don't be coy.

I find it telling (and somewhat amusing) that Sketch expects answers from the questions he asks, but doesn't answer the questions posed to him about his own posts.

How about it Sketch, are you ever going to tell us why you posted those graphs?

Or did Ed's analysis of them make you realize that they are hogwash? If the latter is the case, my experience shows that adults gain respect when they take responsibility, children often try other tactics, and thus gain no respect.

Zero Warming since 2000. Zilch.

zero warming? or no mean global surface temperature rise?

The source of all YOUR crayon graphs ...

I think you have me confused with somebody else. I have not posted any crayon graphs.

And your answer above does not address the question I have for Sketch. But you can try again if you like.

Anyway, wasn't it you, just a couple of days ago, who claimed you never said there was no warming? Yeah, here it is:

Sep 10, 2014 - 08:09am PT

Go ahead KaveMAN or anyone, post up anywhere where I once "ever" posted that it IS NOT WARMING. Just one!!!

ASSUMPTIONS are not allowed.

How does that square with your last post?

The Chief, I get the feeling that you will say anything in an attempt to flame the folks here who post about the scientific findings associated with climate change--even if your flames contradict your own posts.

Are you saying ocean oscillations of inadequately identified causes are a negative feedback to CO2 radiative forcing Ed? Oh mother Gaia, who would have known that moderation processes were in place to keep earth from becoming a venutian hell over its 4.5 billion history. Who would have thunk it, despite forcings many orders of magnitude more powerful than the measly 120 ppm contemporary rise in the trace ghg CO2 life has flourished in a relatively narrow range of climatic variation, except at times of extraterrestrial impacts and cosmic interventions, and even then the biota has adapted, evolved and survived?

I already answered your question.

I read Ed's reply....

Sketch, my question had nothing to do with Ed's posts. So why the shift in topic?

I asked, multiple times, for you to describe why the graphs you posted have merit with regards to our discussion.

You say you answered this question, but I've been over all your posts since I first asked this question, and I do not see a reply from you that addresses my very simple question. Will you please reference the post where you answered this question?

Much appreciated.

It's not hard to find. A basic search should do the trick.

But since you seem to think you're so smart, tell us (in your own words) how Ed's analysis made hogwash of my graph. In your own words.

Are you up to it? Or are you going to run away like a little weasel?

I understood the basics of Ed's debunking of your graphs as thus:

You picked a few years to draw a trend line that showed the average temp was decreasing. But, that trend line can not be extended backwards to show that it is in fact the real trend over time. If you extend your line back, it varies greatly from the real observed temperatures.

An accurate trend line can be extended backwards and will match the temps that we did experience. And, because of this, the trend line can also be extrapolated forward in time.

For the same reason, you cannot draw a trend line from Noon on a hot day to midnight of that same day, and claim victory when you say "See, the temperature is actually falling."

Of course, I could be totally wrong, but that's what I got out of Ed's explanation.

My money is on the latter.

You can pay up any time, thx.

Now, who is the weasel? Got a pointer to your answer to my question?
Should be easy to find with a simple search, no?

Sounded mostly like Ed used some advanced statistics, which was over my head... which was probably his intention... effectively eliminating criticisms.

I'm still exploring just how little you understand about statistics... and what I use here is not "advanced statistics" by any stretch, it is the pretty basic stuff.

Even so, recent years have been some of the warmest on record, and scientists expect temperatures will swing back up soon.

do you know what "variability" is and how it affects the uncertainty of the parameters of your trend lines?

do you know you have been using an implicit model to interpret the variability? and that that model can be tested?

or are you just reblogging stuff that supports your need to be a twit?

All the above posters have been "DENYING" this "PAUSE" reality since it has been established as existing and posted here repeatedly.

you can, of course, support this assertion... or is it just you bloviating again?

I have asked you to provide the evidence that "all the above posters have been denying this pause reality..."

you probably can't do it.

Your correct response should be that you're bloviating...
