OK, for those unwilling to read or unable to comprehend the current WoS debate, here is the deal:

A reward has been offered to any party that can pull off the second ascent of this route without adding anything to it.

First up was dogtown with $1000
Next was Healyje with $250
madbolter1 himself added another $250
There were offers of several cases of beer made a while back - not sure who is on the hook for these.

So currently we are at $1500 + beer

I will up the ante as follows:

1) Another $250 to any SA party that follows the rules.
2) Another $1000 if the SA party is Grossman and Duece.
3) In order to more fully replicate the experience of the FA party, I will also give $500 to any party willing to drop at least two bags of sh#t on a daily basis on the SA party. In addition, a case of beer will be awarded for each confirmed direct hit and/or heavy splattering.
4) In the event that the SA party turns out include Grossman, I will pay an additional $100 for PTPP to stand at the bottom and call him a dickhead for the first two pitches. (+ 5.5 beers to get him warmed up)

Ante up boys!

am i the only one wondering if we could boost the tv angle by getting a couple 14 or 15 yr old girls to do the SA, and then have that 'dateline- to catch a predator' show do a special el cap slab route addition?

"excuse me sir, what are you doing here?"

"nothing, eh"

"what's that in your pocket, sir?-
is that some sort of, you know, protection (or are you just happy to see me)?"

"don't be silly, it's a chisel!"

"sir, are you carrying, what is that, a stuffed animal of some sort?"

"i'm just here on vacation, eh!"

A media circus in the making for sure...he says as he pulls up a chair and grabs some popcorn. I think we could pass on the Steve yellin, sh#t tossin' and topless girls rimming Pete suggestion however.....just sayin'.....course, that might make it too tame for some of you. Maybe Bill Russell could quaff a 12 packs on top and puke on the route in advance then to spice it up and appease the crowd who seem to want blood? Any thoughts on how you all can get Mimi involved? Just a point of reference... Spring is the worst time to do that route. That water streak is there for a reason, and a Spring SA will discover part of why we took so long.

It's going to take more than a few thousand bucks (especially given what a buck is worth anymore) to get the old guard off their chairs and into the saddle. The risk/reward ratio isn't even close at this point!

But there are "new guard" folks that have a serious shot at it. They're the ones to go after.

OK, here is where we now stand:

For the SA team, if no additions to route:
$2070
2 cases of beer
Something rad
1 bottle good Italian wine

If the SA team is Grossman and Deuce:
All of the above + an extra $1000

If the SA team is two topless females:
$2070
2 cases of beer
Something rad
1 bottle good Italian wine
1 slightly used A5 ledge

If the SA team is two topless females packin' a poodle:
$2070
2 cases of beer
Something rad
1 bottle good Italian wine
1 slightly used A5 ledge
1 waterproof A5 haulbag

An offer of an inflatable sheep has been made that any party may have.

Hope that covers it for now. Updates later.

Do you take euros?

Don't worry, Sawyer, we'll take your money...

It's suicide sittin' in these woods, waitin' for them Federals to pick us off anyhow.

I'm short on cash.

Will these do?

That's two nigger scalps? I'll see you with one Dutch scalp.

I'm out on this one.

I just got money.

You guys are dreamin' if you think topless chicks are gonna fire the 2nd of this thing.
But, to get more realistic (and into a position where topless chicks might be more fun!),
I'll offer $100 apiece to any topless chicks who cheer the SA team on while they do
the first two pitches.

Haz ta be at least two of 'em though (the chicks, I mean).

couch-that's like the Winston Churchill story where he asked the woman if she would sleep with him for a million pounds. She told him yes, she would. Then he asked if she would sleep with him for a ten shillings. She replied, "What do you take me for, a whore?" Churchill then replied, "Ma'm, we've already established that, now we're just haggling over price."

Though I had never given it much thought prior to these threads, the route is uninspiring to me and seems extremely contrived with 145+ holes. Honestly, I've been trying to see it in a different light, and for a moment or two almost got there, but it's only led to bitterness and quarrel, so climbing a route like that ain't bringing me out of retirement. I'd go for ten g's to give Turning Point a go, though.

$200 I offered to see Mimi and Steve Grossman do this? I MUST have been drinking. I would have been good for it then but that had a 1 year expiration date. If Ammon and Kaite (who are on it now) do it I'm good for a 40 ozer and I'll send Fish $2.00 via paypal for a beer just because. He can sh#t on their ropes if he wants to recreate the flavor of the original if he thinks it will help anyone.

BTW, Grossmans routes were amazing and his posts here are all fantastic, with the exception of his bitching on the WOS carp. Big respect still to the man. I'd like to see him confront this demon yet, wish he was up with Ammon and kaite for that reason.

Well, I just sent a $100 bucks anyway just cause Ammon rules and is such a good dude! Thanks for the laughs and the amazing sh#t you've pulled off Ammon! Cheap entertainment for me. Again, congrats to you an Kait for making the 2nd of WOS. Sh#t, I've bought Fish paypal beer and he doesn't have to do anything but cash the $ and drink (but maybe it's truly more mentally taxing taking all peoples crap and stressing out on when they want their portaledges) He'd be climbing for dollars if he'd seen this coming I'd bet LOL

All righty then Kait, I'll bring you some Hornsby's in Sept. and some IPA for the Pirate. I'm thinking Sam Adams. We don't have Hornsby's up here in the Great White North, so to be clear, you want the Hornsby's amber draft BEER and not the Hornsby's apple cider?

Congrats once again on a great send! Very very proud of you both! How were you guys doing for food and water up there towards the end after 12 days? And did the Cutty Sark reach the summit???

P.S. I had my turtles out yesterday, turtl-ing around on the grass. I watched them move an average of ten or twenty feet a minute. I think your mom was a little optimistic when she described you as "turtles"! Maybe you were moving more at Big Wall Crab speed? [which I applaud]

And better a homonym than a homo, especially on my portaledge! Enjoy your well-earned rest.

Ammon and Kait knocking off WOS, and then getting Paypal and presents from people is a great denouement to a very, very demented Yosemite tale.

As soon as Ammon and Kait post the TR, with all the details of how much "riveting" and "chiseling" and "cheating" they found up there, I'll send off a commemorative cam.

I just couldn't see the tally being $1971 so I opted to pun in $29 to make it an even 2k. And as I said to Ammon, I am glad I was not drinking Scotch....

Something to think about. Did Pete's pushing this topic increase how much bounty you guys might get for doing the climb? Just wondering and am not saying that he has any ownership in the story of your second ascent.

I didn't offer up anything in the thread (except for a snarky remark about finding wandering 5.7 slabs above the first pitch) but feel this good deed for the climbing community at large deserves some love. How much does a cold sixer of Cobras go for in the valley these days?

Congrats Ammon & Kait! You guys rock!
