Ed a man of many views;

in action on Baobob Tree, Blair, Wyo

ibid, with exclusive alumni shirt from one of his alma Matters

Comfortable with the free solo, seen here on the aptly named, Ed's Crack in Vedauwoo,

But tentaivelly amenable to new concepts like 'lo-tech' Via furrata

But safety is always first!

He takes the time to see,

your pain!

a keen observer/recodrder, of the human condition;

I give you, Cimber,

inovator

explorer,

explainer,

socialite

yet still man of Mystery,

After being around for awhile one tends to realize people actually assemble
several lives in parallel universes, if you get what I mean. And each of those
lives tend to be constructed with the same care.

Quite inspiring.

One can't expect success as the work required is very large.

But it's the trying that is important.

Nice Photos!

Ed's a very thoughtful, decent person.

I assume that's Ed's own personal shop...I don't think beer is allowed inside Livermore Labs.

Don't believe the hype! That's pretty much what the nerve center of LLL is like. Sometimes, late at night, when the guards are asleep, we can use the gattling guns... except that they are said to not allow cameras or hard drives... maybe that's Zanderland...?

I have Ed to credit in my learning of crack technique.

Oh and I appreciate the ride that he gave me to Rob Sharpe's house to go to yos when he wasn't even going himself. He had other adventures that day. But he got me through some of the worst parts of the hangover that morning. Good steady talking.

Mr. Ed Hartouni has always been a source of inspiration for me! Since i was a teen, he has been a climber to look up to. Good ethics, good style, and most of all: the best laugh on earth, without a doubt. =0)

Thanks, especially to Jaybro, for fine portraits with various and, yes even quizzical, Ed looks.

In his own word, just yesterday:

at the start of my career as a physicist I was fortunate to meet an unbelievable number of the then still alive "physics gods" from history. They had made the wonderful, innovative, profound leaps in our understanding of the world.

I learned, however, that they were all different people, some warm and generous, others nasty SOBs who seemed to enjoy making other people fail, and everything in between. The lesson was that just because you are capable of great intellectual feats doesn't mean you're going to be a "good person."

You [Ray-J] have made contributions to climbing and this community, creative and innovative and climbers know you for that... you'll always be a bit crusty and cranky... but you have also given, in a very deep way, to the community.

I send those words back at'cha, Ed. Reading your posts here, you were one of the Tacoans (a tribe from Mars?) I became most curious to meet. And I was delighted to find, in person, a guy who on many levels was plain fun to hang out with.

Here's looking forward to spending more, uh...obscure, more off-width and off kilter, time with you, Sir.
