Anyone get a hold of this stuff yet?

Sounds ideal for wall boot repair. Who cares what it looks like. Gum it up.

J just bought a box at the Mammoth mtn. shop but hasn't had a chance to use it yet. I'll report back whether or not it works to fix a totally worn through approach shoe toe in a way that is more durable than Curity tape.

It's online, from $17 to $22, no problem finding it. Very cool. Another low-tech product that could have been available 50 years ago.

I especially like that they have been most low tech in their packaging. No need to rebrand the Barge. Garage invention as-is.

Seems like a good way to ruin a perfectly good pair of Mocysms.

That's only for the mini porta ledge. The full size costs more.

Now there's an idea! Utilize the stealth paint on the wall side of a porta ledge to reinforce the fabric.

Lock, sell that idea to Russ to make up for the Hack o Rand loss.

I have used it and it seemed to work alright. You have to use a bunch more barge cement than they suggest.

More of my thoughts about halfway through this blog:

Bought it at the Five-Ten outlet in Redlands.

Don' have the links available, but there are videos 5.10 put out of how to apply, etc... I'm sure searching their site, or their FB will get you to them. I'm pretty sure he sent me the links on FB, when the stuff first came out a few months ago.

As I think I posted before...

I took a bunch of "Rubber Dust" (Not to be mistaken for Jesus Juice)...

down to the local Nomad Ventures and gave the sh!t away...

"it's like, ALL THE RAGE!!!"...

then the PARTICIPANTS in the she-nan-a-gans each purchased themselves a Tube-O-Glue (Barge) and had at it...

"like there was no tomorrow"...

NEVER seen such a joyfull group of PEOPLE(???)...

I TOTALLY got's ta give it ta da 5.10 on dat one...

Fuking HILARIOUS!!!...

"One Persons TRASH is another's TREASURE"...

LOL!!!...

EDIT:

I ASSUME that THEIRS is NOT actually...

"LEFT OVERS"...

NOT "Dust" from having RESOLED, etc...

I use Freesole for this, plus shavings from local resoler. Haven't tried Barge cement.

The Mocs in that link look like crap, so I guess I probably won't be trying the Stealth paint thing.

The Freesole job has held up for quite a few crack climbs now. No pealing, nice texture, pretty durable wear. I just covered the high wear spots over the toes of my Anasazis. It's just a small area.

The thing about Freesole is that it flows a bit while it is drying, so you have to keep your work pretty flat.

Glad to know how crappy the mocs look :-D. They did work fairly well thought despite the appearance.

I struggled with the application process and if you clicked through any of the other links on my blog you could see that it can be done well.

One tip that sounds good:

"Besides a better mix, heat the glue before applying. If you get the result you got [too many clumps], sand the rubber smooth with 150 grit. As long as you applied enough rubber you'll be fine."

Man .....

People have no improvising skills. Modern education all book knowledge and no hand skills makes modern man.

The barge cement in the tube is too thick first of all. Thin it down a bit with Toluene. The Toluene will evaporate eventually and you'll still get your full strength glue bond. The glue thinning process will help considerable to "paint" the mess on your shoe.

You can get the shavings yourself by grinding a pair of trashed 5.10 shoes. Jeez, so easy to do this stuff.

Or better yet buy the rand rubber from 5.10 and stretch & glue it on the area you need.

All piss easy to do yourself.
