I will be at Salt Lake Outdoor Retailer Show next week. I will be collecting gear to auction on July 24 with all proceeds going to the Tyrus Bachar Living Trust. I will also auction my own gear and SuperTopo books. If you are from an outdoor company and have anything to donate, please contact me. chris@supertopo.com

thanks!

It is going to be an online auction from July 24-31

I have not decided yet whether I will just list everything on eBay (and promote it here on the forum) or list everything here on the forum... it will depend one what gear I can rally up at the trade show, what is logistically easier, and most importantly, what looks like it will raise the most money for the Tyrus Bachar Living Trust

also, at the trade show Ill be going around with some books trying to get signatures from famous climbers (so they will fetch more money during the auction). If anyone wants to help me get signatures please let me know!

Chris,
If you opt for Ebay, which I'd recommend, you can sell a lot of other stuff besides climbing oriented. I just sold some paintball gear and it generated a fair amount of traffic. The only hassle is the research in building a decent listing.
Right now I have tons of spare time so if you need a volunteer to list these types of items I'd be more then happy.

Please contribute any amount, small things eventually amount to monumental achievements! John was one of those giving people, it's time that we as a climbing community give a little back.
Thank you

Out of curiosity, what is Tyrus' situation? In other words, on a scale of 1-10, 1 being homeless and 10 being trust fund kid, what's the outlook like? Is he headed to other family, turning into a ward of the state, was there decent life insurance in the picture, etc?

Sorry if this sounds cold, but after that wierdo Tim Greene showed up after Bachar was in the car wreck I am sort of gun shy till I know the facts.

Crossposting from a separate thread:

As I did when John was injured in his car accident, I'm offering 6 more photographs I took of him over the years as limited edition prints. They will be approx. 11"x14" in size, mounted and issued in editions of 25, signed and numbered. They will be priced at $100 each, plus shipping. These are different images than the previous batch and have never been offered for sale to the general public before. Also, as before, Cirrus Digital will absorb all printing and mount costs, so that the ENTIRE purchase price will be donated to the TYRUS BACHAR LIVING TRUST.

For those who wish to contribute to Tyrus financially, this is a great way to do so and have something to remember John by on your wall. The last time we did this we were able to raise almost $6000 for John and Steve, so it just seems like a win/win for all involved.

Here is a link to the site, which will offer more information and will take you to a shopping cart style purchase area where you can use a credit card or arrange to send a check. Because of the credit card situation, it isn't possible to funnel contributions directly to the trust, but if you are writing a check and want to be able to show evidence of a contribution you can write one to the trust for the print cost and one to Cirrus for shipping. Or just write one to us for everything and we will make sure the money is forwarded.

Phil Bard and I donated proceeds from Bachar images after John's accident and we're back with more for the Tyrus fund. THere is a link to Phil's info at the bottom of this post.

My Gallery is here

and includes shots of John on Jerry Brown, Left Ski Track, Hobbit Roof, O'Kelly's crack, some 11a behind Hidden Valley, and some portraits

All the prints are sold at Printing and Shipping Cost. The printer makes money but no more than if you had them print your own images. I don't see a dime or even your credit information. You can order prints of any size plus swag like mugs and shirts.

Now ordinarily I ask people to donate the "profit" portion on a sliding scale but in the case of Bachar Images I ask folks to donate to the Tyrus Fund.

Moof, Tyrus is doing as one would expect after loosing a father. He is hit hard and is with family being taken care of. He will need help in the future with schooling and other hurdles that come in life and that's why there is a living trust set up. We as a climbing community rally together to help one another when needed and Tyrus will need help now and in the future. He is not homeless, thank God, but he is no where near set for life to live like a "trust funder", that's why we need to contribute to him, so he can continue to pursue whatever goals he wants to INSURE his well being long term. He first needs to deal with the immediate impact of loosing John and his close family is with him on that, but we want to make sure he is able to deal with the long term situation as easy as possible, so contribute what ever you can, it will all help.
