khanom, I sorta like the mob rule, vigilante-ness of having the STForum members out the spammers...
...it has a techno "eye-for-an-eye" sort of symmetry that is appealing to me.
Not that I don't like your elegant soft solutions that are uber efficient. It's just, well, so unfair, think of the poor spammer on the other side! They've gotta make a living too... so a bit of air time for them is not so bad, eh?

You know, Ed's got a good point.
Why do we have to go all techno-nuclear on these spammers when good old personalized lynchings will work just as well...AND keep RJ gainfully employed and able to guzzle designer coffee noon to midnight?
Ya gotta think of the big picture here. Wholistically. Compassionately. See the world and all its differences as just part of the sitcom we're each paying monthly for.
Spammers may not be people like you and me, but whatever they are, they gotta make a livin' just like you and me, right? I mean, even naked mole rats that poo and pee all over themselves and in their own beds deserve to live as they were created, right?
Let the spammers be the naked mole rats of the Taco. Let them revive old Lasik threads, invade climbing TR's, disrespect memorial threads. Let them wallow in their own feces for the $$ they crave.
Until RJ gets the word that another one has slimed its way up from the bowels of the earth where it belongs...and is looking for naked mole rat heaven...
