I'll be there with the family. I'll probably bring the Break-o-tron in case anybody wants to test Aliens or maybe just break stuff.

One of the things I'd like to do there is funk out a fixed OP Link cam that's been cluttering the fourth pitch of After Six for a couple years. Yeah, that's cleanup...

Been on the calendar for months. But I always say that and then something happens. I do have Robbins coming to Portland for a talk on 9/24 but hope to get there for the weekend, at least. Maybe I should set up a booth with Hollow Flake/YCA shirts!

Perhaps the thread should be "Three Months to FaceLiftOff!!!111"

I think there is entertainment every night of the FaceLift - speakers, pictures, and a dinner. Maybe we should have a kick-off event for the SuperTopians who are there on the night before it all starts - September 22nd - at Yellow Pines? We can all get together, whether staying at Yellow Pines or Crane Flat, eat, and have a party, then get down to work/fun. Then perhaps a BBQ or something social on other afternoon (Saturday?), leaving people time to get to the speakers, the El Portal fall hoe down, etc.

I'm pretty sure I can make it- it will be my first. I need to make up for the big mess I left in the 70's.

If sandbags are to be FaceLifted, donini isn't the only one who should be there...

Hi you all,

I am still trying to work out the evening programs. I got a late start this year due to the Autry exhibit. Don't worry, they will be good. Lynne, there will be music, Jonathan McEuen and Danny Wilson for sure and trying to get the drummer from Supertramp. There will be dancing!

Ken

P.S. Those of you that need camping need to contact me as it is filling up. I need to know names of people, how many, which nights (22-27 available) and campground preference (Camp 4 or Yellow Pines. I have overflow at Tamarack and Crane Flat which is strategically located for Tuolumne. That is the best I can do. It is still crowded in the Valley then and we are lucky to have all that.

Our 'job' at the FaceLift, apart from seeing friends and having fun, is to help the Yosemite Climbing Association and so the park. A bit of focus on making that happen.

It's a lot of work organizing the FaceLift, and Ken and his team have more than enough to do already. Please make it as easy as possible for them with regard to arrangements, especially camping. Let Ken know asap if you're coming, if so whether you need accommodations, and if so, where you'd prefer to be. Be definite about your plans, and don't show up at the last minute without arrangements.

Please also read through the threads posted in the OP on this thread, with regard to how things went at the FaceLift last year. No getting around it - the camp behaviour of some was not seen positively.

The roolz for all campers in the Valley are at http://www.nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit/campregs.htm They're pretty definite on certain behaviours, e.g. noise, and those rules apply to all, even do-gooders in group camps.

I believe that the intention this year is that the number of YCA people at each site will be managed, to stay within what's permitted. There was some talk about having our own campground 'hosts', to keep an eye on things. Also, perhaps the quieter people will be at Yellow Pines, and those wanting a bit more freedom at Crane Flat or Tamarack.

It's entirely up to Ken, and what works. But we need to help however we can, and one way we can help is by behaving responsibly.

Boring sermon ends, but I should add that if there is excessive noise at Yellow Pines after 10 PM during the FaceLift, I have arranged with jstan and the Yosemite Marching Band for reveille at 6:01 AM. jstan will lead the way with his bagpipes, followed by a rousing performance by the band. There is ample opportunity for lively behaviour at the FaceLift's evening events, especially on Saturday and Sunday nights - no need to bring it back to camp.

Thanks for the updates Anders. Though I have the bag off the pipes now.

Even 30 years later we all are still aware of the trouble Chuck Pratt had with yapping dogs in C4.

Would be nice if thirty years from now campers are not still complaining about those climbers in Yellow Pines.

Consider how that can affect us.

Ahhhh, I am tonight basking in the subdued, quiet revelry of Yellow Pine. The soft, quiet harmonica of pennsylevy. The soft and quiet guitars. The soft quiet drums, and LOUD TAMBORINE of Lynnie.....just havin' fun. I promise I'll be good. Really !!11

ekat, if you have time show us your incredible play you're bringing to the Lift (guitar). If anyone hasn't heard this gal sing ..... yo missing out. Could easily be on the charts. Right Jingy ?

I'm bringin' ....guitar (ekat said she'd lead the route with it) of course my friend the red tamborine, the drum (has some name I always forget) and the key of C harmonica.

Life grate at the Lift. With all the jazz, don't think bears will venture to close.

I'm trying to recruit some other Canadians for the FaceLift. It would be nice to have company for the drive.
