A lot of good things are going to be ditched because of costs.

Brace yourselves.

The should close to sacramento, that would be serious cost savings.

As far as no ranger, no water, no toitoi's, sounds like an improvement to many places.

I remember Castle Rock before the no parking signs went up on the road. Totally low key, great place to climb and hang out.

Porkchop,

The majority of the good stuff here is in national parks, nation forest, or on BLM land. That stuff's not state run so no worries...

Tolman,

Still plenty of legit (dawn to dusk) parking at CRSP which is not in the gated lot.

Ok time to go to the Sierras...Bye all

". . . the public employee unions want more money."

Is this really true? I would have thought the Terminator would have mandated decreases in saleries for state workers since the state is broke and Obama said a federal bailout as "improbable."

My question: What does "broke' actually mean in this context? How will anything or anyone get paid if there is no money? Explain to me how this works so I can use the same strategy to pay my bills, sans funds.

This is the Cal State Budget expenditures for State agencies.

Many of these need chopping in a time of fiscal mayhem. When we get things under control and get budget discipline we can rethink things.

EDIT:
I'm done now! This also includes laying off 10% of all State workers in administrative roles.

it won't make one bit of difference, it has been closed before, plus, it was not always a state park when people first started climbing there.

never need the bathroom, never need the ranger, so what's the difference?
less people maybe, the people with expensive cars will stay away.

I have heard they are closing down Anza Borrego State Park in San Diego County, CA.

The entire small community of Borrego depends much financially on the State Park for the touristis from all over the world it brings in. Why would you want to not only shut down a gorgeous park and campground along with a brand new Park Center, museum etc. but destroy the economy of a tiny community out in the middle of not much.

Has the CA govt. considered letting private enterprise take over and run these places. Pretty sure privates could actually make money and all these great spots could remain open. Lynne

Don't worry. They're not closing down anything.

The Parks make money.

They're just bluffing. Trying to spook people.

When was the last time you heard the truth from a politician?
