One of the most well rounded climbers today. Climbs 5.13 sport, made a very early american ascent of Manaslu, the eighth highest mountain in the world, just completed Lost World on El Cap and is now doing Tempest.Recently seen in Zion, Lee Vining and Riverside Quary, Erik does it all. Here's to ya Erik.

Uh...hey YO !
Who might Erik Eriksson be related to ?
I'm just asking.......
I mean maybe the spelling varies across the line and covers a broader swath than we once thought...

He certainly flys under the radar. One of those "best climber you've never heard of" kinda guys. Ran into him at LVC most recently and, talking to the guy, you'd never guess all the stuff he has done.

Gimme that fockin' hat E!

The 9th day, no water, no food, no weed, no fixing, one day pinned down by torrential downpours.

The epic began before we even entered the valley.

E is one of my favorite partners. Big El Cap routes, a day at the crag, or on the ice, sh#t is going to get done if you are tied in with him. He quite an accomplished carpenter as well. just worked with him a few weeks ago on a couple of his jobs.

Hey Tarbuster I also just learned while working with him that you and Fish are childhood friends (pre climbing days maybe?)

Hey Erik - we're right next door on New Dawn. Let's have a beer, eh?

[is that the correct spelling of your name, I never know..]

OK, dude - what's your current route count? Gotta send Hansy the update, eh? Erik's solidly in the forties. I'm working on number 37, might get ahead of Chris someone-or-other.

He did some FAs back in the day at my local crag in San Luis Obispo, seen his name in the guidebook when I was a young lad, then started seeing it more and more, then action shots of him in other guidebooks, then his name started popping up every now and then, etc. I've never met him, but my friend Ken Klis just did Lost World (I think that was the route?) with him, his 47th El Cap route (hope that wasn't a secret?). He would make for an awesome article in the mags if done by the right person. I admire someone like him who isn't a self-promoter, but just digs climbing. Plus the hair... super jealous.

Erik, I hope I meet you someday. You're rad.

Dude has mentored a whole bunch of people too.
Tom Gilge proving to be one of the most prolific.
But scads of others I assure you.

My first nail up,
With BoneRiksson, I mean "E", the Pan Am route, Gran Trono Blanco circa 1978:

E, as a rule, has a kind of hands-off way of marshaling his apprentices forward.
Witness this fine pose, again of the two of us, from an ascent of Watkins in 1981:

And yes T2,
I first met Russ when Mooney and I were about 13.
Russell was 12.
He had a Dutch-boy haircut and appeared at Mooney's doorway deftly bouncing a soccer ball on his fist.

I said to Mooney: "who's the squirt with the attitude?"
Mooney replied: "that's Russ, don't mess with him, he be BAD"

Mooney and I had been toying with some Goldline earlier that day...

Just to bump this thread.

Roy introduced me to Erik in the late 70’s on a trip to Lee Vining to ice climb. Erik took many a fledgling southern California climber such as myself under his wing and had more influence than he knows. Trained us in everything from how to use a beer bong too the art of setting good protection. We used to kid him that Roy once referred to him as the, “Best face climber in North America” or something like that.
Got to share a rope with Erik on climbs such as Keeler Needle and Cynical Pinnacle.
Cheers to Erik

Erik is one of the most accomplished all arounders in climbing today. 8,000 Meter peak ~ check; 45+ El Cap routes ~ check; free climbs to 5.13 ~ check. Big time Ice routes ! check. The guy can do it all. Here's a few shots of E on various climbs:
Following the Groovy Arch - Sea Of Dreams
In the chimneys & wide fun of Son Of Heart, 2008
E leading the Heartbreak Hotel pitch on Son Of Heart What is that in his hands? Could this be on the 20th of April?
Captains Quarters ledge ~ Jolly Roger, 2007

E cleaning the start of Native Son , 2005 His semi-girlfriend Cybelle is jugging & taking photos.
After some Gatoritas at the top on Native Son. Man was I wasted!
High on Sea Of Dreams~ I think this is the Ace In Space pitch?

E lives the life of a true iconoclast, minimalist posessions, just enough work to pay the bills, maximum time to go climbing.

Oh yeah- he is fond of the sacagewea. Hustlers guard your sack, the Chicken Hawk is back!
