In addition to posting a link with no explanatory note, you also have to make the thread title cryptic enough so that it provides no clue to what the link is about.
Edited to add: But I'm a big fan of JDF's weird links.

it's almost ot--
as best i can tell, the only reason this is news, is that it helps viesturs to launch his new eddie bauer clothing line.

Kudos to the calories burned. Nonetheless, these sieging jugfests are becoming a bit of a passe snore. When's 'the' Ed gonna break some new ground?
With respect, a more worthy public mention.

the dude has his name on foot bed inserts at REI too. I mean come on, does he really use those in his plastics? Hell does he even use plastics? Dude probably wears Reefs all the way up, then glissades down with the bottle cap opener as a brake.

Think of it as a hike for Ed. You know, to stretch the old leg muscles.

Well, climbing Everest has really never been on my tick list. Sort of like going down a freeway these days but still it takes a lot of effort and training and I admire that. But agree, I think this trip was more of a promo thing. Anyone checked out the First Ascent Stuff yet? What is association with. Mountain Hardware these days?

Like I said, don't know much about the First Ascent stuff. But I do have Some Mountain Hardware. I just do not associate Eddie Bauer in the same category. If it were not for M H Ed might not have made it to the top of a lot of those 8000 meter peaks.

Keep on trucking Ed. Even if you are retired. Also i agree with Slakkey. Had it not been for mountain hardwear Ed probably wouldn't have been able to climb as much as he has. And if i was going on an expedition I would definitely chose MH over EB any day. My grandma buys EB their products (not that that's bad) but i just dont see them on the same pedigree as MH.
