Thanks for this link and heads-up, El Jefe. Teahupo'o live!! a huge treat. I guess later today, you say, currently nothing up.
Here are some famous shots of the break. The first one is Laird Hamilton on his historic ride some years back. The second is a novel view of how seriously this SOB sucks out.

Pretty standard (perfect) reef pass waves right now, at about
6 ft.
Hopefully a big swell will come during the waiting period
and we'll get to see what Chopes is famous for. (*pucker*)

the only real reef pass I've surfed is frigates pass ( fijian pipeline) It's a cloudbreak type set-up where your surfing in the middle of the ocean miles from shore- pretty wild - you always get cleaned up by mysto sets! Amazing you drve up in the boat in the blue-black water , then up pops the reef about 4-5 ft deep. tricky to find the spot to line-up!

ya jefe, frigates is the poor man's tavi, still a class wave, we camped on the small isle of vanuda, $ 35/nite got you three meals and a boat ride to frigates. a very cool place! I wish I was a high roller and could afford tavi- but alas I'm not!

I have been there, spent a month in Tahiti sailing around the islands. Teahupoo truly is at the end of the road. The break is pretty far out from shore. It takes a boat , jet ski etc. to get to the main break. it is a lot like jaws in Maui in that it only breaks big several times a year. The rest of the time its just pretty average. When it does though it is a heavy wave.
