I had a debate with a friend of mine that placed new/additional bolts on a route we did some 20 years ago in the Superstitions. It was a bold route with potentially huge falls. Of course we did this route when we were both much younger and bolder and dumber than today. I argued that it should remain as is but my buddy's stance was that it needed more bolts because neither of us would be willing to climb it today as it was originally ascended. Needless to say, he won and additional bolts were placed. At least the new bolts were painted pink so future climbers can assess how big of a pu$$y they are.
Should they stay or should they go?

tough call on the retro bolting. To say that since you could do it back then but not now to me doesn't justify retro bolting it. IF you said today - we should have added more bolts back when we established it - at least carries some water even if the bag is leaking.
