Roy, I cannot express in words what it meant to get your call today. Recent events have me pretty down on myself. To say I was flabbergasted hearing from you is an understatement. I knew who you were when you first identified yourself; I was just dumbfounded.

You are truly a stellar person. Tar, my hat is off to you. Talk to you soon.

Although greatly appreciative of Tarbuster, I seem to have missed this thread the first few times it went 'round. His Rambles in the Rockies threads are some of my all-time favorites on ST, not just for the mountain air but all the soul he put into building the narrative. Most recently:

I learned a lot watching Roy on ST, and enjoyed his company IRL. We've kept up with occasional correspondence, and said hello briefly in Boulder last month.

Roy and I along with others have also shared some great climbing days together, many of them well documented here such as

I'm not sure I ever chimed in on any of the past threads,
but I paid special attention to your threads Tarbuster.
I never had the good fortune to know you in real life,
but your contributions here are foundational pillars
that make this site great. It definitely caught my attention
when I saw new posts from you.
