Now that I look at the picture more closely I realize it is a church. Interesting place for a church I must say. Must have been a small congregation.

With the three barred cross it's an Eastern Orthodox chappel. No cupola (onion dome) so likely not Russian, possibly Antiochean. It could part of a monestary or a church.

This building is deep in a Russian forest on Horse Island, which is in the middle of a small lake. It’s a Christian church. In 1,000 B.C., long before the Christianity came to Russia, this rock was used by local tribes as an idol. They sacrificed horses to the "Horse-Stone" and when first Christians came they were shocked by the bloody rituals. The Christians cleared up the place they decided to use the stone as a church site.

Those Christians are funny; they'd rather give back up to God his own Son crucified, rather than offer up a few horses every now and then. :-)

"If one offers Me with love and devotion a leaf, a flower, fruit or water, I will accept it." Bhagavat Gita. It seems Krishna doesn't like blood offerings of any kind.

funny i've always thought, why would god need horses, flowers, devotion, water, his son...ANYTHING from me..can't he just leave me alone and be content watching the misery he's/she's/it's created.

This is in Mother Russia and not Ukraine. I'll try and pinpoint it for you in another post. Too tired right now...

My wife is scared of horses too. I like to rub their noses! I love to see the police using them to control unruly demonstrators. The people on the ground think they can just bump the horse and he will move. Hah! To the horse they are just one more fly to bump.

Many Christian churches throughout Europe are built on what were originally "pagan" places of worship. It was the Christian's way of "proving" that their god was better. Plus they were often pretty nice spots for a church.
