Last Sunday Locker, Woody, and I make plans to go to Perris Lake to climb on Big Rock. Locker has never been there before and wants to check it out. So we decide to go on thurs. Jan 15th.

Locker wants to go down the night before and camp, so we are there in the morning and within 10 minutes of climbing.
he drives to apple Valley wed. afternoon and we go to Picnic rock for a couple of hours to climb.

We decide to capture the ADVENTURE on camera.

Lockers Bed for the overnite adventure.
(NOTICE the PINK Sheets!!!)

After climbing, we head to my place so I can pack my gear.
(He persuaded me to go camp also)

After we get to the Perris Lake campground,
Locker goes to bed and reads the paper, and I do a little nighttime photography.

The skys were really clear, stars very bright, and very little light pollution.

In the Morning, we both wake up about the same time at 6:15
and head out for a cup of COFFEE, and then to BIG ROCK!!!

BUMMER!!!
Gate is CLOSED to Bernasconi Beach.
We Head back to the main Park so we can retire to our
Separate THRONE ROOMS, and talk to OUR Minions.

After talking with our subjects, we headed back to Bernasconi Beach, where we met a State Park Ranger at the gate.
BUMMER AGAIN!!!
The gate is always CLOSED on the weekdays during the SLOW SEASON.
So, we gotta park at the gate and walk from there.
(doubles the distance you gotta walk)
No PROBLEM, This OUR BIG ADVENTURE, so we might as well have a BIG WALK to Big Rock.

We get to Big Rock and Lockers first stop is...

The SIGNBOARD!

"I'm GONNA do THIS one!

Locker goofing around.

Locker LEADING The Trough.
Classic first time lead for all first time Big Rockers)

Locker at the top.

The Lake

Locker Rapping because he doesn't want to do the DECENT! :)

One Climb done, and still no Woody, Tia, or Karen.
We go back to the BOARD, to pick out another route to do,
and who do you think we RUN in to?????

PARIS!!!!!

After Locker gets his kiss, she has to leave,
But,
No problem,
Woody, his Daughter Tia, and Karen show up.

Karen hops on one of the topropes we have set up,

while Tia, and Woody get ready.

Tia Leads, "The Trough"

Taking the, WIDE STANCE.

Daddy belaying and watching.

OH MY!

Like FATHER,

Like Daughter!

While Tia is Leading,
What APPEARS in the Sky???

I WONDER if it's a sign?

Tia watching,

Karen CLIMBING.

Locker THINKING about the KISS he gave Paris, and BUMMED she had to leave.

What a GREAT day we had, with GOOD FRIENDS, and PERRIS/PARIS

There's more to the story: locker contemplating a solo while we all look on with doubt

Another shot of Tia leading The Trough, she did a great job on a very greasy climb, Heck it might only be 5.5 but it is slick as Hell.

Cosmic climbing, yeah Cosmic you need at least one pic of yourself today!

It just wouldn't be the same without at least another pic of Woody's, ah you know...

locker in full concentration hoping Woody isn't about to take another whipper..

You know, we are bad ass!!!! haha....

Obviously, I should have been there earlier.

We climbed The Trough first as a warm-up. I was really warmed up after, since I slipped twice. It has gotten very greasy and smoothed over in the many years since I'd been to BR.

What did Woody ever do to deserve such a cute daughter?

Lots of the vegetation is gone in the background of that one shot-- it's obviously burned since I was there last. Those boulders on the hillside used to be horrific to get to.

Whew...

I was having fears of stories about celebrity look-alike hookers in one of those Joshua Tree Theme room hotels.

well, maybe that would be fun to read too, but this was nice

ANSWER!!!
How do I resize my images using ImageShack?

Select an image to upload, then checkmark the box next to "Resize Image?" Finally, select a new size from the drop down menu and click the "host it!" button. Your image will resample and resize based on the dimensions you selected. However, you cannot resize an image to be bigger than the actual source image that you upload. Your image's original proportions will be kept. Flash and Video cannot be resized.

GREAT TR Dwain (Cosmic), I remember parking outside the gates in the early 80's, walking in and then waiting to see if you were ripped off when you came out. Some knuckleheads use to like to steal batteries outa cars back then. This is the quality type TR that so enriches supertopo, super grippy tales of far away places that only mere mortals get to climb at. Next time you go, give me a call...and you can drive.
Peace

yeah, those are the pix. the "Tia watching" and "Locker thinking" shots are really, really good. It's actually not easy to get shots like that.

You don't see many in the threads posted here. Some of my favorite Glen Denny shots are actually candids like that, from Camp 4 or wherever.

I am so lucky to have climbed as much as I did with Woody...

It truly was ALWAYS an HONOR...

I'd complain...

He'd yell...

We'd CLIMB!!!...

We'd laugh...

He'd YELL...

"GOD DAMNIT LOCKER" in his GRUFF voice...

He had a soft heart for people and his friends...

He sincerely CARED...

Here on Super Topo he was often misunderstood...

What was NEVER disclosed was how often he was INTENTIONALLY...

TROLLING...

He'd sometimes call or email and tell me before hand what he was going to write and vice versa...

Then we'd crack up the next day when out climbing at how many people "fell for it"...

He was intelligent as hell, super witty, had a WICKED sense of humor...
