Out of aspirin?
Chew on some willow bark.
Really.
Willow is the natural source of aspirin metabolyte.
Learned this from a beaver.

This is a good book, I'm sure there are others. This dude, while being a conservative, really hates big pharma. His books on nutrition and herbs are good.

He also has one called the herbal bible that's good but one of my friends didn't return it. 'Herbs that heal' is good though. Covers a lot. I also have 'Earth medicine, Earth Food' that was done after researching native Indian cures. His PhD is in ethno-medicines with Master degrees in botany and anthropology.

Plenty of good medicine out there derived from natural sources.
Start with aspirin.
But let your doc know what you're going to take or already are taking. Some of it (St. John's Wort for example) has bad interactions with other drugs. As far as danger from overdosing or interactions, they should be treated no differently than artificially created drugs. It's all chemical compounds when it comes down to it.

here's the thing. I take these herbal pills with Saw Palmetto and other stuff and after a month, I start peeing better. I get used to things being fine so I quit. After some time, prostate related pee symptoms return. So I go back on the program, and off, repeatedly, always with the same results.
So it works for me. Even with "proven" prescription medicine, it turns out that many drugs only work on a limited percentage of patients.
Peace
Karl

I just wish I could find an effective substitute for statins. I am getting tired of having my fingers and toes feel numb and cold all the time.
Good old "side-effects" - peripheral neuropathy in the case of statin drugs.
