leave it to beaver...

i saw john bachars slide show last weekend in Brevard, NC and it got me thinking again of the days of olde. Jb's story of the early solos of this route by Yabo and him are ultra classic and cutting edge to this day!

so here's a little beaver to stir the memories of this iconic route.

post them if you have them of this classic j tree route!

What a fine route -- one of my all time favorites.

I swear that every time I went out there, Raleigh Collins was doing laps on that thing. RIP.

Funny story by Long, but actually the first time Yabo soloed The Beaver he made it look smooth as silk - like he was climbing a 5.8. He rested a little and decided it was so easy he'd do it again.

The second time he started to get pumped right away and everyone could tell. He looked totally different and actually had to throw a dyno on the last move!

What a route!

After Patrick Edlinger did a couple of laps on the Beave, our very own Muskellunge floated it (circa 1985). In his neckless turtle no less! He's also soloed this classic.

great photos and stories of this classic!

those years that i spent in jtree in the 80's were some of the best times in my climbing life. To not have a care in the world and only think about and go climbing all the time! those were the good old days and everyone that was there during that era knows what i am talking about~!!

anyone have pictures of the 1982 new years eve party when we took over the center sites @ hidden valley cg and had that SIC bonfire?
I remember rolling my ankle when jumping over that fire, very drunk and very......puffed...

Wow! That's Incredible! Hee hee.

That show (along with the similar Real People) was so goofy in the way things got presented (not a reflection on JB and that great solo, of course). It seems even goofier now, especially with the 80's porn movie soundtrack!
