This climb looks awesome - but difficult to find. Any experiences out there trying to find it? I have been to JTree many times but am not familiar with Rattlesnake Canyon.

Joshua Tree East has detailed directions. Plan for a long hike in, even knowing the way it is tough to approach in less than 1.5 hours (which would be hauling ass). If you've never been in Rattlesnake Canyon, your chances of getting there are drastically reduced. One of the keys to the approach is staying high and right after ascending the Wonderland Wash. It seems very improbable at the time.
Good luck... Enjoy the climb, it is unique and not in any way sport bolted.

Actually, Valley of the Kings and the Firewater Chimney is in Joshua Tree West. Very detailed approach information is in the guide whether you head in (a) via Rattlesnake Canyon (preferred) or (b) from Willow Hole (recommended only if you were near there anyway or just like lots of bolder-hopping and very long approaches).

I didn't think the approach was bad at all. Randy's directions are very clear.
sweet climb, although you need to keep your head on to get to those bolts.
can set up a nice TR on the other side of a 12 face climb.
