How could anyone who has ever met Ivo describe him as arrogant? Makes no sense.

It's been my experience that the really bad ass climbers - people like Jim Bridwell and the Hubers - are far and away the least arrogant. They have nothing to prove, and are super nice guys.

I would have to agree that Bachar takes the cake for his offering the 10k check to anyone that could follow him. But thats the type of arrogance that is totally ok since no one cashed the check.

Ok,Walleye
Maybe I didn’t notice because I was just as arrogant but not as good at the time. It doesn't matter now.

What does matter is we are still climbing and not just living in the memories.

It’s the greatest sport / life in the world.

And I'm thankful for it.

A climber that takes the time to write an article about spending thirty days in a snow cave in Patagonia… comes to mind.

Those persons that are globally, inextricably arrogant *regardless of activity* stand out, in this unfortunate list.

I have met some persons --that happen to be climbers, good ones-- that fit this description quite well. You know many of their names.
