Looked at wedding venues in the neighborhood of Manitou Springs, in the shadow of Pike's Peak.

First we checked out Eastholme in the Rockies:

Next, Blue Skies Inn:

And lastly (Allison's favorite of the bunch), Briarhurst Manor Estates:

Got in a little touristy stuff while we were there. Walked through the well preserved Manitou Cliff Dwellings - where apparently the Anasazi lived (the people, not the shoes).

Ran out of time before we could get to the Garden of the Gods. Next time...

Needing a break from the reality that is my life I decided to do a solo slog up 3 peaks off of Berthoud Pass.

Approach:

First peak, PT 12,424:

Second peak, PT 12,507:

Raven at PT 12,507

Summit of Stanley, 12,521':

I only saw 1 other person the entire day. He was just coming up through the trees as I was on my way out. Above treeline I had the place to myself for miles.

On Saturday we went to Cosumnes River Gorge .. Frisky and Muffin got some multipitch climbing in ..

Lots of topropes, I managed to hang my way up Test Piece (5.8) and Adhesion (5.10a) but tr'd Dinkum Crack (5.9) cleanly this time. Also some other short stuff.

We lucked out with the weather - it started pouring just as we started up our cars to leave around 5pm.

Watched Team America, World Police in high-def at Party Central that evening, laughed my butt off ..

Sent an unexpected project:

Snooping around Fuller Ridge we found what was apparently the aftermath of a well-supplied party. Condiments, grille, utensils, trash, more trash, spent Co2 canisters, tons of broken bottles. The good news was that is was less than a mile from the trailhead. Were these guys light or what? They left ten full beers. Hyperpussification!

PS: Peace be with you, eKat.

We should have a full one with pics in a few days. My friend Adam was the recipient of the Traveling Carabiner that goes on climbs all over the world.

Took a European visitor up Nutcracker for his first Yosemite experience. It was fun, with a little excitement in finishing before the rain hit.

Right around now I was blown away at how nice this climb was, two years after doing it the first time. A highly recommended repeat.

Rushing now to finish before the dark clouds came over us.

Alexej finishing in fine style..

Then to the Warren Harding 50 Yr Commemoration!

And the overnight deluge of rain

For me a classic Valley weekend! And I met Hartouni!

Bertrand your URLs aren't jpg files, so we only see red x.

Bertrand- You can't hotlink to Flicker unfortunately. Would love to see the full spread if you can be bothered to host the images elsewhere. Use Photobucket or waffleimages.

HDDJ, you can hot link to flickr all you want.
I just did in the image above using Bert's links.

Bert, no worries, grab the actual image URL by right clicking on it and go to 'properties' and copy that URL listed there, not the one in the address bar, and paste it in between the [img] tags.

In Flickr Pro accounts they will display the URL below the image and you can copy and paste that alternatively.

Instead of putting the flickr photo page URL in the img tags, click the "All Sizes" link and select Medium (for example) -> that will give you the url to a jpg file.

Saturday:
Up early to Castle Rock before the rain, played on Lost Keys Traverse, and in the Magoos. Then down to SC for an ABS comp, Sanctuary kicked some A**. Thanks Pac Edge for hosting!

Sunday:
Rainy morning, taking three clients to the Pinns for a little guided TR'ing. Flumes is a mossy green flume. Tilting Terrace looked like a water fountain. Chockstone Dome was dry, we all watched a guy take a whipper off Conduit on the Balconies. Over to Machete for Dos Equis and Corona, no injuries and all the clients finished their climbs. Plus some beer and tacos in Soledad.

A good solid weekend.

Saturday morning 8 November I did After Six with my daughter. Actually, we started up C.S. Concerto, traversed to the second pitch of After Seven, and then cruised the upper pitches of After Six just before the rain started in earnest. That was pleasant and low-key; "Mellow-hysterical" as my friend Marie says. The crowds were light since Southside Drive is closed. I remember seeing Bertrand and his friend on Nutcracker as we arrived, and from the photos it looks like we all topped out at about the same time.

Here's my daughter at the top of the hand/fist that starts CSC:

Traversing onto the ledge at the top of P1:

Saturday evening we went to the 50th celebration at the auditorium. I met Lynne and Lynne and lots of famous climbers and saw a lot of SuperTopo regulars including Ken Yeager and Ed Hartouni. At the benefit dinner they held at Curry Village for the local school I sat right behind Hans Florine who seemed to be a really nice guy as well as a world-famous climber.
