That's great, Joe.
What a crack up.
Of course, there are a lot of people out there
that still think that we're some kind of crazy. . .

That's actually a good letter, and I wish I had written it (in jest), but I was in Baltimore in the army and no where near LA at the time. The way you can tell it's a good letter is Roper saved it.

Sounds like the letters the papers in Oregon/Washington get after a rescue on a Cascade peak.

I still have all the VDs.

(maybe I should rephrase that)

Wasn't that published in Vulgarian Digest?

3.5 days, no modern bolted anchors, no cams, no nuts, 98% nailing and aid climbing. Not many parties these days could match that effort!

Roper sent me a copy of that letter along with a letter I would love to share with the folks on ST, but not only would it not pass muster with the current censor, it could quite possibly bring the entire site down. col, crash out loud

Remember the combined heights of that team would be close to 20 ft and just a couple of three- men stances with Kor at the top to reach, (add another 5ft) would have a dramatic effect on the speed. Try to visualize that scenario.

C'mon guido! Post that letter! There are no censors here when it comes to climbing.

Don't tell me you're getting all ladylike and proper!

Are you perchance thinking of giving Guido a lecture on the subject? This ought to be good!

Bump. For those on boats in the Pacific.

Don't think I'll be lecturing Guido on anything. Especially manners. Not that I don't know what they are...heh

I think that letter saw the light of day in "Games Climbers Play." Or maybe an early issue of Ascent.

It was in The Games Climber Play, but attributed to Vulgarian Digest, 1970.

Edit: Referring to the letter Guido published upthread, not to the other one he's alluded to. Though maybe that one got published somewhere too.

Whoa, Nellie. What's with the redacting? I understand if you're trying to protect Roper, but heck, he was really ranting.

Shirley, it can't be that bad. Ron, you have a responsiblity here to post up. Share your VD with all of us. Really. Show us the VD.
