Wearing zip-off pants and loving the mountains at 10 months = Success. Even with a rash on his face from drooling so much.

General Robert E. Lee dropped by for a visit!
I didn't get to hang out or talk to him very much though, as there were groupies hanging all over him.....

My Dad passed last night at the age of 92. It was a rough couple of months as he just couldn't muster the reserves to bounce back from pneumonia and entered skilled nursing and started sliding into early dementia or "sundowners". I was with him in mid May and we had a grand time watching baseball, rolling around the facility (which he thought was a big fancy hotel...it was beautiful) and every time we rolled near an "exit" sign he said "let's go, it's time to get out of here". Luckily he still knew all his family and was pretty oriented so it was a wonderful visit but I did think it was probably the last.
The ever lasting lesson he taught me was when I was little and wanted to go fishing with him and my two older brothers. I hated baiting my own hook and he said "If you want to go fishing with us, you'll need to bait your own hook". My eternal thanks to a Dad that instilled independence and an absolute delight in life. I'll miss him horribly.
God speed Dad...
I love you.

So sorry Susan.
Be glad you had your father a good long time. My dad passed at 69, 24 years ago. I still miss him everyday.
Even if the last couple years are not easy, you still have them to love, and them to hold your hand.

^^^^^^need a "free rent-a-gramma"? He's a an easy one to spoil.
My son is 23 now, but he looked so much like your little guy in his first ONeill....but that tie dye boogie board....CLASSIC!

Yanqui, your girl is precious. What a beauty!
Susan, I may take you up on that offer while I do some SC surfing. He's turning from pure angel into pure boy but he's still lovable when you can catch him.
