It sounds like Alex Puccio has repeated Jim Holloway's Trice at Flagstaff Mountain. One of the Big Three, it resisted repeat attempts for years and years.

Bouldering

It's hard and some are real hard, some are just so hard only a few or an extraordinary person can do.

WTF is V12?

WTF IS V12?
Silk Banana @Mt. Woodson! (imo)!! ...V12/V13

edit: Rick Piggott rated it V11, but V11 was the highest grade at the time, and that is why he didn't rate it any higher.

I interpret V12 as 5.14-, if that is a serious inquiry ;)

When I watch this talented climber I cannot help but recall my thoughts about bouldering back in the mid 1950s, particularly the possibility of women excelling in the sport. Until I watched a female gymnast doing strength and balance moves on the beam at the Pan American Games in Chicago in 1959 I had no idea women could have the potential for strength-oriented climbing. Up to that time I had only seen one female attempting to boulder (in the Tetons), and I wasn't impressed. I viewed bouldering as requiring great gymnastic strength and power, and I admit I saw it as a masculine effort.

After 1960 I became more aware of the prowess of certain female climbers, and now I have seen what was if not unthinkable, at least improbable 60 years ago!

One of the few advantages to aging is evolving perspectives.

She seems to be tearing it up. Wasn't too long ago nobody had repeated that climb.

Awesome year for womens bouldering - Shauna Coxsey and Angie Payne have also excelled this summer - and its really just indicative of rising standards in general. Best of all, these women are inspiring generations to come.
