Drummond was hanging below the "Cyclops Eye" requesting assistance from Yosar due to being exposed by a killer fall storm.

Me and Shipley were flying by the Nose towards the NA to access the situation when I spotted 2 more climbers at the summit bolt anchors that were unknown to us in the initial size up.

They looked like they were waving an orange tarp. I elbowed Walt "Hey look there's another party and they're waving at us."

We circled around to get a better view and Walt tells me they're not waving, and the tarp is the only sign of life as it continues to flap in the freezing wind.

This sounds great. I'm definitely going to try to get down there. I recently saw Royal Robbins' slide show at Yosemite Lodge. He was very sweet, humble and personable. It was a pleasure getting to meet him and his stories were entertaining.

Grim. Werner has a pretty different take on our favorite places in this valley, I'll wager. Hard to look around and not think of those times.

A guy I knew a few years back who was not particularly experienced soloed the NA as his first big solo route. Hearing about this inspired me to get on another Robbins classic by my lonesome a couple seasons later- a route Walt had soloed actually.
