For relief from itching, and to help it heal, boil leaves of the Yerba Santa plant, and apply the liquid topically to the affected areas. Natives in Southern California have used this. It grows in the Oak forest areas by poison oak. I've personally have used it, and it gives relief from the itching. No poison oak on the East side of the Sierras.
