"I am happier than I was 8 years ago because I am living my dream. Financially I am not better off."

"Are you better off today than you were 8 years ago?"

QUESTION : Could we diversify from just the financial aspect ?

Actually Living out Life - In a different way, Yes, better !

Physically - actually, yeah better.

Mental acumen - better

Wisdom - much better off

Spiritually - much better off

Psychologically - better off

Finances - Taking it a day at a time, tomorrow is no sure bet ever...anything could happen at any time.

Not better off, biggest loss ....mi esposo

Personally (financially) yes, but that's not hard to do since I was in school then and now have a real yob! But, the real question is: "Are we better off as a whole, as a country, economically and environmentally than 8 years ago?" I think not.

DL, great comment and thoughtful. I don't think we will ever be better off because as time passes it seems that morales, politics, economy, and the environment continue to degrade. How can they go back to the more simple, purer times ?

Personally, no.
Some my bad decisions, quite a bit the economy.
Resort communities are definitely a good barometer of what is going on economically.
If people have disposable income, all is good, tourists arrive and spend money.

Weschrist and Doug, agree that 8 years ago our corporation was doing so much better. Financially I think it has been a slow, but downward progression for the past 3-5 years. Slow enough that many didn't recognize the trend and the money men sure did not want to give us any beta.
