Hi, was wondering if there are any Physician Assistants out there?

Reason being is that I am interested in doing a P.A./MPH program and would like to know if P.A.'s have time to climb or live life?

Or

Would I be better off going the way of the nurse, hear they have quite a flexible schedule as well?

Taunts, advice and comments welcomed!
Ouch!

Ask Dirtyeyeballs. He will tell you LEB has lots of time for things other than medical.

LEB is a nurse. The answer is that yes, PA's have time to do other things. Like with anything it depends on the job you take and who you work for more than anything else.

Hi Nat- How was the lichen study? I missed the whole thing- out of climbing for a while because of a detached retina. I can't go into high elevation until mid-October.

Good luck with the career change! Hope to see you again soon.

How's the project in TM going, btw?

But it is illegal for a Nurse to fix herself, from a medical standpoint that is.
Like a Pediatrician can not deliver his wife's baby, yeah, thats what I mean.
If you find a bad nurse, they will smuggle Morophine out for an accident in which you survive, but wish you had not.

I tape a syringe to my arm just in case I have enuff time to use it.

I had a molar stuffed with poison, so that if I deck, the jaw releases a death dose.
Kind if like a GiGi, or a seat belt mechanism.

Hello...I'm a PA.
I have been practicing for 6 months. Just like anything, it depends. If you want to make time for climbing, that shouldn't be a problem. If you want to work for a cardio-thoracic surgeon and do nothing but work, but get compensated well...that's possible too. The flexibility of the job is it's beauty. I work family medicine right now and have plenty of time to climb on the weekends, of which I get Friday, Saturday, Sunday off. No call. I plan to do a traveling position when I have more experience. That will allow me to work certain positions in different parts of the country for a couple months, get paid really well, then travel and climb for a month or two until I start the next one. This is also possible with nursing too however.
Cheers

Hi Darren! When you gonna come visit?

Lithium guy,
I climbed with Darren tonnes the past few years, believe me, you can make time! Mind you, the guy is super smart, so maybe he didn't have to study as much as I would have to get A's.

Tooth, Who said anything about A's? After all, C's get degrees!!

Tooth, I climbed the N. Ridge of Lone Pine this weekend then took a 1.5 hour nap on the top with beautiful weather in a perfect bivy spot. I awoke to the sound of ~8 paragliders (isn't that what you do?) hooping and hollering with glee as they circled over head at about 15 K feet. In no time had drifted well past Mount Williamson and out of sight. It was pretty cool to see. The paragliders made me thing of your wreck. Yikes!

I'll come visit when you take a trip to Thailand. How are things?
