Trad climber
all bivied up on the ledge
Topic Author's Original Post - Sep 12, 2008 - 11:54pm PT
Was going through some stuff in the garage and came across this from 1980. Thought I'd post it in hopes of pushing the political posts down a bit.

Forty out
from a #4 stopper
pounding heart is all I hear
Partners fear
sizzles
up the cord
EB toes scream
Sweat stings the eyes
I dip powdered courage
watch the dust float east
on a Pohono breeze
Smeared rubber on the left
crimper to the right
Rack bells ring
as I ooze to tenuous balance
and follow a trail of dimes
that wanders forever
to good a hand
and a 7 hex
At last I can breathe
Solid locks run
thirty feet
to the ledge
Set the belay
Equalize
Clip
“Off!”
I peel the shoes
And take two sips of plastic water
“You’re on!”
