The temperatures are dropping, AWhit moved back to town, and PBR tall cans were on sale...it was a sign...it was time to get my ass back to those granite pebbles us backwater rednecks refer to as the Batholith.
Most of July and August was too hot for the general area, only the zones on or close to the continental divide seemed cool enough. I choose to opt for the cooler temps of the Gallatins or just floating on the rivers.
Mojede though, ever diligent, and went out wandered...and he came up with some nice scores. Sunday we went to sample one of the said 'new' zones...

There was this OW project...kinda tall, and the exit squeezes you out to through the roof and the feet go away...pretty interesting...

Hutch had to roll on, and we wandered off into the woods to check out some of the other rocks...though many of the nice looking boulders from the pictures never turned up...I think we missed the second gully...

This crack problem is hard...stumbled upon it later in the day...hard ass SDS to ringlocks to thin hands, then it seals off again...

It then started to rain and we headed back to the rig...to find it had a flt tire...and specially shaped lug nuts, and the owner of the rig didn't have the said tool. Hours later with the help from Mojede we were back on the road...going 55...hoping the 'fix-a-flat' bullshit works...and it did.
Car troubles aside, it was a really good tour. High concentrations of quality boulders and some nice new problems...projects waiting a return visit, and more boulders lying in wait...
Hope your Labor Day weekend involved some climbing as well...thanks for looking...
Cheers,
Tom
P.S. Veduawoo part two coming soon...I know I said that over a week ago, but I swears, it's coming...

pretty cool - those look like Ok cracks, too.
gotta say - not to be a snob or anything but,
some of them "boulder problems" you know,
the ones where the space between two boulders
is seen as a "crack" - well, ok maybe it IS
a crack but...sheesh - you wanna climb it?
anyway - just kidding...(kinda)

I'm confused Ray, the photo above where we're in the chimney between the boulders?
or something like this:

either way, to quote the Big Lebowski,
"obviously you're not a golfer"

Tom-
Is this the same Awhit who has a brother, Sam? Sam and I did some climbing together about 5 years ago in The Valley. Sam and Awhit were from Montana with about a half dozen other climbers.

Tim,
You're talking about the Magro brothers, Whit and Sam. Nice, strong fellas...
AWhit is Andrew Whitmore, Awhit being his 'handle' here on the ST...though I can see why there could be confusion...
