I am clear with conscience and agree ... like I said...I believe somewhat that people on the forum have become a little less fun loving and a little more finding the issue that divides us.

Chicken Skinner runs the place, he should have a good feel for what to do. He will do his best to make the correct decisions. We will do ours to support him...RIGHT ON...as they used to say BITD ! Smiles, as always, Lynne

True - As Ed's partner last year, I can attest to our picking up a LOT of poopie diapers. That was one knarly dirty job. The show could also show him cleaning up the floor after the party. That smell! I'll never forget it! Blurgh!

It certainly can't hurt to try it.

I only saw the show once or twice. One was a guy who grew mushroom....lots of groveling around in stinky poop involved(really, but at least it was animal crap). I would have thought they would want more dramatic, but as people have said they also do least that "extreme gross" dirty jobs, maybe the Facelift fits in.

One spin would be that we volunteer to do the job(as opposed to, say a sanitation department. Garbage man is pretty low on the totem pole when bragging about your gig to that hottie at the bar.....)

Another spin could be putting the focus on the ones who LEAVE the crap around for others to pick up. What sort of animals must THEY be? And then back to how, without the volunteerism, the stuff would just continue to pile up until until Yosemite looked like the Buy and Large lot on the new film "Wall-E."

Hi Ken,

I recommended the Facelift as a topic on their website a while back. I also linked a few of the TR's and news reels about the facelift. I did not get a response, but I was not persistent.

I do have a friend who is a producer for the Discovery Channel, if you are interested I can get the facelift info in front of him. He would be able to put it in the right direction and avoid the hassle of their web site. Let me know if you want me to do that.

My $.02 is that the facelift would be a great episode for a few reasons.

1. It shows people from far and wide taking responsibility for public lands on a voluntary basis.
2. It is a hard and dirty job, especially if you send him up on a route.
3. The rewards at the end of all that hard work are really fun. IE Speakers, Parties, and Sushi.

I've seen a few recent episodes, and it definitely seems like they are hurting for ideas and places to go. They're covering jobs that are kinda mundane and not that dirty at all.

So if you contact them, I'll bet they'd be excited to show up.

Well folks, we could hit the web site for Dirty Jobs and saturate them with requests for the facelift. I'll bet that would get their attention!

hey there chicken skinner... ol' ken.. say, i kind of like what mtnmun had said.... i have young grandkids and such ... and when i babysit, this show has taught them there are "things out there" that folks do that are NOT fun... but someone does do it, and not all jobs are "shining gems" to have and hold....

seeing this done from the volunteer side, is good for young folks to learn and understand.... our folks taught us to clean up.. .but no-a-days, folks do not... it therefore seems like an interesting experience for all ....

RLF,

That is a good idea and it might help especially if some of you posted how nasty some of the stuff you cleaned up was. Here is the link to their forum page. It is on page 2 now and has no comments. http://community.discovery.com/eve/forums/a/frm/f/8251971108/p/2

One of the nastier jobs was sorting the recyclables out of the returned bags. Camp 6 cleanup would be good but would bring publicity to our own failings.
