My brother and I climbed the Salathe two weeks ago. We brought along our cameras and afterwards made a movie of our adventures, hosted at:

http://www.stanford.edu/%7Ecmclean/SalatheWall.wmv

Some highlights of the route:

* A front-row seat to watch Andres and Lucho sending the Monster Offwidth en route to a successful ascent of the FreeRider.

* Seeing Much work the Headwall on TR in an attempt to free the Salathe (and subsequently his and Time's hooking us up with some green tea at Long Ledge).

* A big thanks to Kate for giving us Red Bull, fresh fruit, and a lift to our car keys and haulbag in Camp 4 and back to the bridge after we hitchhiked to the bridge without them!!

* And of course thanks to Tom Evans for the sweet photos from the bridge.

WOW!!!

Nice video guys and congrats on the Salathe ascent.

Good style.

Thanks for posting the video. I would have never known, in detail, how difficult or exposed some of those pitches are without it.

I'll be returning to this video again!

P.S...... uhm..... where was all the booze? LOL

That video is off the hook!

Well... that is, if there ever was a hook awesome enough for that thing in the first place.

Nice work, Cory!

nice climb and cool tr!

and go cardinal! (why is it that stanford seems so disproportionately represented compared to other area schools in these things? money? but often it's grad students living on stipends. the alpine club?)

Thanks for posting up guys and great video!
For those of you that love Salathe Wall history, Ken's Yosemite climbing history exhibit features the first color film ever shot on El Cap. The third ascent of the Salathe by Steve Roper, Dick Long and Al Steck was filmed and narration provided by Steve and Al several decades later. Dick Long bought the camera right before the climb so the cinematography can be a bit funky to be sure. Owen Bissel finished editing the piece just in time for the installation and deserves thanks and recognition for his timely efforts. Classic stuff and one of the real gems at this splendid exhibit. Check it out!

Great trip report! Well done, Lads! I met you and your brother briefly at the Bridge the day you hauled. Congrats. Nice send. Nice dance moves at the end.

Nice TR and great video. Alan Bard and I used the same bivies 35 years ago or so--doesn't look like much has changed. Nothing fit in the Hollow Flake pitch for us either.

Well, one thing is differnt, we didn't know the moves to the final dance number, so we just stood to the side.

All the best, Roger
