Dave,

Great wishes to you!, another gemini brother.

Lots of great memories of climbing and friend-ing with you in our youth. Hanging in the Valley, the trip to Peru, luring me to Tahoe. I was lucky to share great times with great guy.

I look forward to visiting you in your new desert locale.

All the best to you and your family,

Peter

Its said that a single act can shape and define a person, if this be the case then the Hook or Book pitch on the Sea of Dreams has made the man who lead it legendary... congratulations Dieg, your spirit and legend which is cast in stone will live on forever. Out there in the perimeter, tu hermano- Craig

Thanks Craig...that picture brings back very foggy memories at Tomains. I was actually sitting next to you in that one. I remember that was when Galen just got back from the Trango Towers and later that night opened his slides from the box to show us. He also brought the first pair of Tele-boots if I recall and either you, or Stevie tried them on National Chute at Squaw soon after. Prior to those, the only time the old XC boots worked for turns was when they froze solid. I couldn't even fathom that skiing that on free-heel stuff back then.

neebee...Thanks. Your brother was always the coolest guy to hang with in the Valley. I miss his guitar singing in the parking lot.

Peter my friend...would love to have you visit and hopefully I'll still be climbing and you, as always, can show me what it's all about.

Laura...I don't know if our paths have crossed in the flesh, but thanks for your kind words and perhaps we'll meet on the craigs.

Now I've got to get back to my walker and hobble out of here!

So did you take the doctors advice? don't forget to call him in the moooorning...

Your memory serves you well Dieg, better then mine anyway, I completely forgot all about those boots. It was me that wound up with them, I still have them. I remember Galen coming out skiing with Kim Schmitz and I this one day in Squaw, as usual I had 220's on and Galen had his beefed up free heal rig on, after a few runs we thought it would be a good idea to swap skis and boots for a run or two... So there we are, Galen with my supped up full race alpine ski boots and 220's and me with Galen's super modified thee pin rig and boots. All three of us get on the lift together with Galen in the middle, unfortunately Galen didn't calculate the length of the skis very well and the tips dug in just after we sat down on the lift, ejecting the poor boy straight out of the chair onto his face, only to get a second insult to injury when the chair came back around and spanked his ass one more time. Although embarrassed, he was a good sport and climbed back up and rode the skis like a chicken hawk the rest of the day. I wound up liking his boots so much he gave them to me and like I said, I still have them to this day. I used them for the revival of the old pioneer long board races Craig Beck organized in Tahoe, the skis were 14 to 20 ft in length and literally carved out of 2 x 4's which was great, as I finally got to ski on 2 x 4's... needless to say the boots served me well and I won most of the races I entered. I hope you had a good b-day Dieg, and don't forget the docs formula for the bellyache- tu hermano from the days of old- Craig

For those interested, here's a glimpse of the skis and brief info on long board races-

Happy Birthday Dave!

I was so lucky to get schooled and inspired by all of you guys back in the day.
The Oregon Bong team did their level best to keep up with the big dogs.

Here's some lines from Sonny Landreth:

So here's a toast with one last pour
To last forever and a minute more
May fortune sing to you her song
To live and love way past long
May you live and love way past long

Peace,
Bruce

Everytime I stroll past your Bday Thread I think, "I should wish him a happy bday." Then my brain says, but you don't really know him.

Today I told my brain, "but I think he said something nice on one of my Threads. And he is a friend of Captain Chaos who I have never seen in the flesh, but is a nice Dude to talk to."

My brain gave up. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DOUBLE D. AND MANY, MANY MORE.

Chaos…Nice boards…a bit tough to get on the chair lift though, eh?

Nita I’m glad you enjoyed the pictures. Your springtime post was memorable…what a year for wildflowers! I know you used to work at TPR but didn’t you also work in the Valley?

Bruce…the Oregon bong team, huh? Sponsored by the Jamaican bobsled team? I just read a story about Darryl Hatten (RIP) showing Chounaird how to use a tube chalk as a bong in camp 4…way to funny. Oh yeah, I never inhaled! Thanks for the kind words and lines from Sonny.

Lynne Thanks and keep shining your light on this bunch…they need it! I’ll have to try your book club one of these days when my current list dwindles down a bit.

Standing Strong Thanks and keep standing strong! Have enjoyed many of your posts. Perhaps our paths will cross some day.

Edit: I don't expect you to remember me, when I lived in the Valley - I was pretty quiet.
