I have a 36v Hilti TE-6a with two batteries and the battery pack extension accessory. Bringing both batteries along and a couple of fresh bits I typically run out of gas before it does and so have never really felt the need for this sort of mod. Did have to have the batteries re-celled once by PrimeCell which has worked out fine.

Ok Juan, so question:
My SLA batt's noticeably have less ooomph when it's really cold no biggy but here's the question. It regards recharging SLA batt's.
I would like to be able to charge off my car battery when I am out in a remote place. I assume that a direct wiring hook up would flood (way to many amps, to fast) the smaller 4.5 amp SLA's that I have, possibly damage or even toast them.
Can you suggest a voltage regulator or some such devise that would make it safe to charge the smaller Bosch batteries from off a standard car battery ?

For others who may be interested in this topic:
The easiest route to take is to purchase a small inverter for your vehicle. The output capacity (in watts) does not have to be much, and some inverters will plug into a cigarette lighter. This converts your vehicle's 12V DC to 115V AC (household current). Plug your SLA battery charger ("smart" type) into the inverter and hook up the leads to your SLA battery.
Here's a 200w inverter which plugs into a cigarette lighter, at the great price of only $19.95. It has the features of a much more expensive inverter, and has more than enough power to run 2 SLA chargers at the same time:

I got a Bulldog off ebay for $78 shipped and just got done doing this mod. I wanted to thank you for posting up a detailed step by step with pictures. I could have figured it out myself but it was much easier to just follow, why reinvent the wheel. Anyways, thanks again.
