Totally agree with Khanom,Nature & Mighty Hiker..I do Not want any money,it would no longer be a rewarding experience... Free camp ground and park passes -was a great bonus.
Love the idea of donating the money to YCA.
p.s.Just add free showers and all would be perfect!
edit: Hey Mighty Hiker, Please tell me about free showers? ;-)

Ed: State labour laws may still apply, in whole or in part, even though it's a national park. Could be a complicated subject - division of powers in federated countries always is.
And then there's the child labour issue - working late at night, in marginal and dangerous conditions - making sushi! Looking very bad, I'd say - may need to get help from he who must be self-displayed.

I completely forgot about the child labor laws.
working late at night under dangerous conditions - sharp knives and the Reverend Pegan Monkey Boy pour Sake down my throat - that's a recipe for disaster!

So, Cosmic, are you going to bring Locker? How about Russ & Sooze?
Hopefully we can keep the OSHA and workers' compensation people away from the FaceLift and the SushiFest - there are some things they don't need to know. Another reason we don't want to be "employees" - "volunteer" sounds way better, too.

How much ya got! Just teasing. I will send you an email. I spend between 5-7 thousand dollars on the Facelift and usually break even other than time spent and wages paid to my employees. I hope to turn it into a fundraising event someday to help finance the other things we do the rest of the year. We currently spend between 35-45 thousand a year for insurance, office rent and storage, display costs, and employee wages. And I work for free.

Will probably be looking for a ride from San Fran when the time comes.
Will probably still not have a proper job, but will probably pay for sushi this time :-).

This year I plan on giving back more than I did last year.
I just hope that I can actually work as hard as I did last year. JStan and I took care of 120... But that was tough. Tougher than any climb I've ever been on!

It is amazing how quickly these posts get buried.
I have done some work and have the campsites worked out. I have camping available for 44 people in Camp 4 during the event and camping in Yellow Pines for 100 people from the 24-26. During the weekend(27-28) in Yellow Pines I have camping for 50 people. During the whole event I have overflow camping throughout the Park though possibly in less desirable areas. It is first to contact me, first serve. For all you earlybirds and heavy planners, I am ready, send me your requests and we will work on the reservations. Bring it on!

That's great you have camping already worked out. I sent you an email with my requests but didn't hear back so I'll send again.
I'll post my plans here so everyone knows whattup with me.
I think I will request my two weeks of vacation time for this event. Papajoto and I will probably leave Santa Fe on the Friday before the event (19th) and arrive in the ditch on the 20th. We'd of course prefer to be in Yellow Pines with the sushi tent. Dates for sushi are yet to be set.

Ken - my wife and I should be able to make it for the whole gig (24-28). Put us down for Yellowpines for the duration - place had a good vibe that last time around.
Nature - let me know if you need sushi help again - had a blast working the fish stall in 07.
Hey Nature - ever tried Kewpie Mayo? Got turned on to this stuff by local sushi guy - been making dynamite sauce ever since. Great stuff with baked enoki mushrooms and scallops!

I am working on the camp site spreadsheets (almost done). Everyone that has emailed me has a spot. I will email you back when they are completed. The earliest will be Sunday as I have to work tomorrow making it a 60 + work hour this week. Good thing that I have almost six months to put this together. I am really psyched at the response and the fact that all so far are committing to the whole week and more. That is awesome.

Second, after not be able to come last year due to unforseen circumstances. This year I am in for sure. Ken, What is the status on campsites to date for someone who plans on staying for the whole week?

Thanks to all that have emailed me. I sent you all confirmations for camping today. Seventeen people have already committed to the whole event. Quite a few of you have offered to help before and after the Facelift. I will check into getting camping arrangements made for you sometime this week.

Thanks, Ken - sounds like lots has happened and is happening already. Sorry if I made work for you - I was just trying to stir up a little interest, and maybe add a climbing-related thread to the front page.
Do you have any jobs that you need help with over the next few months, getting ready? I wouldn't be surprised if a few people, especially those who are local or regularly in the Valley, could spare a little time to help with organizing.
